So it was 9 goals and 2006. Whatever the case may be, it was one of the best individual performances I have ever seen at any level of footy. All the damage was done in the second quarter and at one stage the group I go to the footy with every week simply looked at each other and laughed at how dominant he was. As an opposition supporter I just had to applaud him. I would love to know how many grabs he took for the match, I reckon he pulled down about 10 in the second quarter alone and they weren't simple chest marks either....

Here's a match report of the game, it was one of the most remarkable performances I've ever seen from an individual in a quarter ever, he took 18 marks for the game, most of them hard contests:

Goalkicking aside his game was a lot more consistent before the Crows got hold of him, he was awful at times last year and IMHO cost us a win against Glenelg he was that bad but I'm hoping training back with North full time his old game will come back. Worse comes to worse he's a really great guy to have around the club. :D

85/86 wasn't very good though.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

More signings from the SAFC,

From the SAFC forum,

Panthers signings for 2010
The South Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce the following signings for the 2010 season:
Guy O’Keefe – A 185cm forward/midfielder on the Western Bulldogs list for the past two seasons who hasn’t missed a game at VFL affiliate Williamstown. The 20 year-old skilful left-footer played 43 games in a row at VFL level kicking 51 goals. Guy recently completed the full pre-season at Geelong prior to the rookie draft.
Kade Klemke – Kade spent an injury hampered year on Essendon’s rookie list in 2009. The 19 year-old 180cm defender/midfielder had an outstanding underage career which in 2008 saw him Captain the Murray Bushrangers to the TAC Cup Premiership and be selected as an All-Australian and TAC Cup Team of the Year member.
Josh Taylor – formerly Port Magpies, 21 years old, 189cm Key Forward/Defender
Sam Livingston – formerly Murray Bushrangers, 20 year old, 189cm Defender/Wingman
Taylor Whitford – formerly North Launceston, 18 years old, 176cm Midfield/Forward
The signings add to those previously announced in Andrew Horne, Nick Liddle, Xavier Gotch and Dylan Joyce. Also SANFL mini-draft selections Daniel Talia and Daniel Bass.

Congrats to South to be so active in recruiting which I guess they needed to be.

There midfield signings look good with Joyce, Horne , Liddle & O'Keefe all very good players

I also think Talia was a very good signing as well & young Bass I would say will lead the Ruck for the majority of the year unless thye sign a quality Ruckman

Surely Bass wont be leading the ruck this year? The lad is a long term prospect. He is a phenomenal athlete but has very limited footy skills at this stage.

I like the way the South team is shaping. Don't expect instant success next year but I think in 2 years they will be very, very competitive.

Klemke is an excellent pickup. I saw him play often in Victoria last year and this guy has some serious talent. While he is no doubt over here to play well and get back into the AFL system he is pretty dedicated and committed and will give excellent service.

The only concern maybe that they've gone over the top with their recruiting. Where are all the recruits from the local area? This is what make the team in the long run.

The only concern?? This is a massive concern.... Look, I like the recruiting the guys have done but we made this mistake the last time we were in the finals by buying from interstate and other Clubs. We lost our identity as a Club and I am worried that this could happen again - hopefully not of course but I have to urge our Club to get some players in from the local area. Especially the mighty emus!

I don't support South but with your previous recruiting I thnk you went for matured aged recruits with the age being around 24 to 25.
What Fuller has done is recruit players between 18 to 22 with Horne & Liddle being the oldest at 22.He can build a culture with younger kids

The reason I say Bass will lead the Ruck at present is the club hasn't recruited a class ruckman as yet

It is interesting to note the ages of the recruits signed into the club and as pointed out recruiting in previous years has targeted an older age group. Clearly the plan is to build the group from that age group upwards.

I understand the concerns being raised about the SFL and what appear high numbers of recruits from interstate, yet West Adelaide also are able to tap into the SFL and havent chosen to do so to much degree either. No shortage of opportunities are made to interest SFL players from the club to play in the SANFL yet if people dont want to play for the club, we have to accept it and move on. I hope that the relationship with the SFL is one thing that Ron is able to make some positive changes towards in the not to distant future, yet I do think that with the recruits that we have got into the list that we have been able to retain added with those lads from the SFL that want to give it a go I do think South are every chance to move forward in 2010. Simply doing nothing and not recruiting and relying on SFL players to suddenly want to play for the club is hardly going to see the club get off the bottom of the ladder any time soon and no doubt once the club does in fact become successful and become seriously competitive in the SANFL, then the problem of interesting SFL players in the club is likely to resolve itself anyway!

I preferred the '06 identity that played finals to the '09 identity that was mainly local players and locals coaches that was an embarrassment!

realisticaly it would be great to have a nice blend of locals and imports that is capable of delivering success - I think we are now getting closer to that blend that works for other successful clubs.

Finally looking forward to the season ahead ... although there is no way we could ever be as good as the Eagles and Sturt after there great signings - just want to get close to these great Clubs

South seem to recruit lots of talented sounding players every off season.

What happens to them? Are they overrated? Why don't they stay?

And I always wondered ... why don't the Southern suburbs people bother to attend South's matches?

South are the only side to have grown crowds in each of the last four years - considerign they basically started again as a new Club in the mid-90s, assuming they can keep doing this, they will outgrow all other competitors soon.

... and now they finally have a decent coach, they may retain a few too.

Great recruiting younger players for the long term but hopefully some young tall guys are being looked at as well.

no point in recruiting young players if they dont stick around though...what are south doing regarding their local zones and players?

Many people on here have had a crack at Sturt and who they have recruited and questioned are they buying a premiership, well I think South have recruited a lot more from interstate. These guys will need to find homes and jobs and hey could easily go home within a year or two. At least have recruited players already based here and therefore more of a chance to remian at the club for a longer time.

But good luck to South as they do need success - but hey who doesn't.
