Eastern Park are going through a re-building stage, they have probably the best group of under 18 lads going around, they enjoy their cricket and there is promising signs ahead. They can by no means be taken lightly, probably struggling a bit in the batting department but it only takes one or two to fire to make a decent score.
We dropped our coach this week to bring in Kerr, our B's have fallen off the rails a bit recently so it was a no-brainer.
The batting wasn't completely horrible last saturday LM but in my opinion you could use one more genuine bowler... After the openers the quality definitely dropped a notch or two. The lads that bowled did keep a tight line but never really seemed dangerous.
A's or B's mate?

B's mate, you wont find me playing against your A's in a hurry. I see your B's lost again this week... 3 in a row? Sure you're hoping the lads can regroup over xmas, first couple of games next year you would expect to win (Wasleys and A.Vale)

3 in a row is a bit of justice for us, we have some internal squabbles going on in the B's, a few players taking advantage of a young inexperienced captain, now the coach is there, it will be sorted out. The attitude was far better on the weekend, just the result didn't go our way, probably made the wrong decision to bowl first.
On a brighter note, for once we have players in the B's striving to play A's, we have 2 A Grade opening bowlers returning after the break, they've played 1 game between them all season.

Sounds like you're writing off the teams from 5-7. Sure Salisbury North are gone, but Virginia, ATCO and AV only need to string a couple wins together and they are in the 4.
After last 2 losses, the next 2 games become vital for the Lodge. Angle Vale (5th posi, 9 points adrift) and Virginia (16 points back) to come, need to win both. Good to see Hargreaves in good nick with the bat, need something from 3-6 in the batting order to help the good starts being made.

Absolutely, as long as he doesn't hit a rut at the wrong end of the season, he's certainly striking the ball well and once him and Herb get to the crease together they are hard to manage, left/ right hand combination that rotate the strike constantly.

Add a 49no to that in the last game (left him strandard chasing the bonus point) and he is doing this all from 5.. The team is certainly working well around these two but there are plenty of others who can step up if either fails.

Mate, I think Furnell will add plenty to the squad. A very handy spinner, meaning Brown can bowl full 8 overs of pace (if that's what you can call it). Whats the story with Rhett? Working most weekends? I am back as well, I have realised for now that golf is not my sport.

Young kids, mixed with an inexperienced captain, definately makes things tough on the field... Lack of depth is always an issue with B grade teams. If your club is like ours and has 2 or 3 people unavailable from A's and B's most weeks the B grade team will always struggle (obviously as they get 'the best of the rest' after the A's) From what Ive read it seems like Smithfield and Craigmore are undertaking the same process... trying to move kids up the grades to gain experience...
