Crappy timing for Lofty B grade. Two weeks rained off, followed by the Test weekend, followed by the bye, followed by xmas.

Gee it was nice to read in the courier that the AEHCA selected an "in form" team for this years meyer shield!! With the awesome form of schoefield (109 runs @ 13), Lyons (140 runs @ 20), Dunstall (67 runs @ 11), Warren (56 runs @ 18), Ryan (51 runs @ 25) and Berkett (101 runs @ 20) the opposition teams are now officially ON NOTICE....... =)) =))

Would have to agree that quality batsmen are few and far between in the A&EHCA but when you bowl sides out for 40 odd (Torrens Valley) last year   you dont need much batting talent i suppose.

Torrens Valley 'In Form' Cricketers have all got knee problems and all likely to miss the rest of the season. Kersbrook's Andrew Wehrman, Lobethal's Tyson Rathjen and Woodside's 'Red Hot' Dave Wescombe will all not play Meyer Shield. Rathjen and Wescombe to both go under the knife post Xmas and will miss the TVCA Major Round.

well........lets be honest what do you expect? without a doubt the hills cricket association is by far the strongest comp and we have no problem finding quality batsmen e.g. rohan reid, ben kemp the difference is people still care in the hills about cricket.whereas AEHCA struggles, but chucky can bat so even if his average sucks will most likely make runs in association.

Warren just knocked up a quick 109 (about 60 balls) on a slow Creek outfield to boost his average to 41 in response to your post Camel but unfortunately for A&EHCA is unavailable for meyer shield (Honeymoon commitments) and wasn't in the original squad anyway. I know the 'Courier' tries hard with their cricket coverage, but fair dinkum, 1/2 of the write ups are just made up with little factual content at all.
ps. Credit to the courier for sending a sports reporter all the way down to the Creek to report on the 'Match of the round', L.Ck v Echunga.

Hills by far the strongest comp ? without a doubt :?
Hills u/21 0 wins
Hills u/16 0 wins
Hills u/14 1 win

Hills, NO teams in the final where as the STRUGGLING A&EHCA are playing off in the U/21 & U/16s Finals. ;)

7 rounds completed in the TVCA. 3 two-dayers and 1 one-dayer after to come after xmas. My take on the first half of the season:

Lobey (92 points) Possible loss of Rathjen will hurt, but have plenty of depth. Aufderheide doesn’t seem to going anywhere just yet.
Wood (79) No Wingers, no Woodside? I guess we’ll wait and see.
Para (61) Have set themselves up nicely. Continue to beat the teams below them which is enough at this stage.
Kers (51) Read in the Courier that they have used 25+ players already. Seem to be getting a few back (R. James, Quill), but Wehrmann is huge loss.
Lens (36) Finally showed what we’re capable of with upset win against Woodside. Consistency within matches an issue.
Gum (34) After chasing down 240 against Lenswood their batting has dropped away with 120 and 99.

Thanks for that summary Saintal. Seems a pretty competitve year, but suppose that could have been helped by the rain and the heat.

Not a problem FlyingHigh.

Competitive between the other 5 sides, definitely, but it still appears to be a case of how far Lobethal. If Kersbrook can stabilise their 11 after xmas they still pose the biggest threat I feel. Woodside without Wescombe are going to feel the pinch.

In the A2s it looks as though Mt Torrens may finally take home an elusive flag (runners up 2 of the past 4 years), while Kersbrook and Mt Pleasant/Springton have already pulled the pin on the season. Sad that the latter can't get a team on the park anymore.

Out of interest where do your allegiances lie? 8)

 Oh, of course the strength of any comp is based on the 'A' grade part of it, not the junior grades.
Fair enough, keep talking yourselfs up, we are all in AWE of the Hills cricket comp. ;)

Think the squad looks something like this: Hackett, King, Hughes, Georgiou, Aufderhide (Lobey), Johns, Frohling (Kers), Stev Kav, Sean Kav, Symonds (Gum), Medlow, Clohesy (Woodside) and someone from Lenswood.

Bowlers would be Aufderhide, Frohling, Georgiou, Sean Kav, Symonds and Clohesy.

Go you redcaps.

Lofty could be a sneaky chance for finals here though they have two tough games and a bye to come.

no chance. not with their draw. dropping the game against cupido really hurts now. but they are the first team all season to knock off uraidla so they have improved on last year. final 4 will be meadows, bridy, uri and maybe onkas for 4th but if there is another match rain effected or heated out they wont make it without an outright
