I think the AFL players who play a few games in the SANFL can find themselves in a "damned if u dont, damned if u do" situation re playing in finals:
- on one hand the supporters and the club and coach probably want the best team on the park, on the other hand sometimes the AFL player may feel that he is depriving a local SANFL player from playing in a final....
- whether or not that 2nd scenario applied in Douglas' case i dont know.

I don't think he had to play but he he spent both games down in the bar at AAMI stadium. He could have at least watched the game.
