Just wondering if you can tell me how competitive you think BSR would be in the Indy’s? I know we will loose a couple of our top players from last year but I would hope we would keep the main group as well as some b graders who just won 4 flags in a row.

Is this the issue with us joining or is it more about travel?

i cant speak for any other clubs but as far as we are concerned we are all for BSR joining the indys but think its a bit rough that we dont play all teams twice. only extends the season by 2 weeks. thats the main reason we voted against.

playing everyone twice would mean 16 rounds, same as the a grade surely that is achievable

16 rounds is no big deal at all, most leagues play at least that, some play more. The more footy the beter!

Barmera a bit behind the 8 ball now their new recruits from Port Districts pulled the pin and went to Two Wells. Pretty poor effort on the players part.
So you've seen everything have you?

Plenty of younguns from the 18s at Barmera that could make the step up anyway.

I remember Luke Chamberlain was pretty impressive in round 16

Chamby can play. Can jump, and was a hit with the ladies at Mount Gambier during the exchange too.

BSR into indys on a 12 month trial with an adjusted draw. which is what MKFC suggested at the agm.
top 4 teams and BSR to play each other twice and bottom 4 teams into a hat.

Would the SANFL have overturned your decision if you had all voted against it?

that was the general consesus after the meeting. neil martinson accuses alot of people of alot of things and then does the same thing himself. after about an hour of people raising their concerns (most of which i thought were real and justified concerns) and neil saying thats silly, thats not an issue but giving no reason for it the meeting took a 5 minute break, the club delegates went outside for a chat, bob vogt and myself basically chaired a mini meeting at which point we mustered support from 5 clubs with the current system, that was enough for me cause neil gives me the shits at the best of times and i wanted out of there.

most clubs wanted it revisited after 12 months, make sure they arent too strong, make sure clubs can get volunteers and players to travel that far without any problems.
its easy enough to say an extra team makes the comp stronger but we have probs getting volunteers and players to go on the long trips to E.M and B.W at the moment, 1 extra long trip might be enough to force players away from us and therefore weaken our club, if its happening to us, chances are its happening to other clubs too, therefore an extra team may make the comp weaker

That all sounds reasonable from both sides of the fence as it may not end up being a fit for BSR either. Also like the idea of top teams playing twice - makes sense although I didn’t mind the idea of a longer season either. Good outcome really look forward to the season starting!!

Timmies - you in?????
