Yep, they are mates.
Clayton was also offered a holiday home when ever he needed it as well.

Holiday home couple of nice pick ups if it comes to fruition. Both only 27 and prob over 300 league game experience behind them.

Reasonable to say a flag could head Mannums way over the next couple of years!

Who is left at Tailem now? Dent has not left them in a good position. like i have said alot of money spent for no return and now it looks like they have no players left. it might be a long couple of years to rebuild.

Half Back Dents no longer involed with the club, left on good terms, had not enough A grade players to work with in his first year at the club, recruited a number of players some that were really good for the club and some that were not, played a number of U/17 players over his 3 years. Played finals last year & as for your quote alot of money spent for no return, tell how much because there was only one player on big money & Dent told him he needed to preform or take a pay cut. We all know what happen to him. If players leave once he's not involed and they go to other clubs how is he responsible??? HALF BACK BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT YOU LOSER

If Dent had recruited the RIGHT players and not thrown money at any player who showed an interest in playing they would have blokes that want to stay on at Tailem. If Dent had looked into any of the recruits you wouldnt have to tell players half way through the season you will cut there pay. Dont blame the blokes for taking the money they are offered they arent going to tell you there not worth that much. Of all the players he recruited all have left and none did anything special or were outstanding. The club now have to start again on recruiting and try to recruit players who want to play and stay at the club, obviosuly something Dent didnt do.
I agree the U/17's show alot of promise.
He made one finals appearance and the team was knocked out first game to a team they had beaten the week before.
No need to name call just stating the facts the only LOSERS will be the tailem bend footy club and the locals that play there. The club is going nowhere in a hurry. They will finish bottom in 2010. the club was tipped to to make the GF this year and came nowhere close.

Tell me why Clayton would give up a $60k contract at SANFL level to play with Mannum.

I can understand Waterhouse giving up his $30k in the SANFL as he couldn't get a kick anymore, plus he hated the fact he was ready to be dropped & found a better alternative & that was to just retire.

Port won't be any chop in 2010 so that should suit Clayton who's only out there for ( individual honors ) himself anyway.

Mannum couldn't $buy$ a flag in 09 so they have no chance in 2010.

In 2009 Mannum FC traded at a substantial profit (as everyone at the AGM found out), it had great players wanting to come there and all recruits bar none stayed after nearly every game. The club rooms were packed every home game and away games with families having and absolute ball.
The best players were filled with a great mix of locals and recruits including a couple under 17's who played great football week in week out. Picked because they are a couple of great little footballers, not because they attract minus 1 point. We have several more who will make the grade this year.
We had two senior teams make the grand final at home and put on a fantastic grand final day with few hiccups and had heaps of vollunteers working all year and GF day. (concede at this stage would give my lefty to have been slightly more successful on the day)
Our club has been repainted and numerous other capital upgrades in previous couple of years.
Realise there are a fair few who see this as a club trying to buy a premiership but if you ran the above scenario to any country clubs committee they would take it in a flash because it is the SIGN OF A SUCCESSFUL CLUB.
Next year spend less time posting and more time asking your president how you can help make the club a better place to be around.

Fantastic post, but come on We all know why these 2 kids played. The league gives out the points each club has allocated to them & what players are worth what.

On the Hills central forum it is saying Matt Cooper already signed at Tailem for next year. Can any one confirm this? I have also heard Tailem are in talks with about 5 other quality footballers aswell. No names given to me just what i have posted. Anyone confirm this also?

Don't write off Tailem now Brock has them. I know of 5 quality players from Blackwood and Hills central that have committed _ Cooper is 1 - 2 others with league experience last year. They will all eat that comp based on what I saw of it last year. The guy knows what he needs and normally gets what he wants. The RMFL is about Div 4 SAAFL standard and all these guys would play div 1 in town. Based on Imps last year who where beaten by Williamstown pre season easily, I'd be happy to put a wager on em being right up there. I think Tailem where smart getting someone from outside the fishbowl that is RMFL footy and someone who is capable of attracting quality players not just names. 2010 will be good for them.

Trouble is what I saw at Echunga a couple of years ago, Brock is not a senior coach and will struggle to keep the players interested. He may have come along way but omly time will tell!!!

if your basing a wager on trial game form your a brave man HASBEEN as trial games are the biggest waste of time in terms of results ever.
And just because tailem have picked up 4 or 5 what you think every other club are sitting there on there hands not out picking up any new players? and its also been very well documented on here that tailem have lost plenty aswell to the mallee and other comp's.

Tailem Bend has been on the front foot in retaining locals and keeping their Under 17s from this years Premiership side interested and at the club.

Kartinyeri - is staying, despite links it Karoonda. Best player the league has seen for 20 years, and is certainly not past it at all.

Hogarth - is staying, despite links to Karoonda and other Mallee teams and is the best young player in the comp.

Gregory - is staying, despite links to Marion.

Sumner - is staying, despite talks of him returning to Imps. I remember when this kid was playing in town, and his early days at Imps, and he is as good a player as any in the comp. And may as well be a new recuit for 2010 as he missed most of this year with major surgery.

And of course you had the loyal 'club hopping' Paul Sarno at Mannum.
He 's been there for a couple of seasons now, that's a record even he'd be proud of and if he can get in your A grade team, you'll need every other recruit you can find because he wouldn't get a kick from a 12 volt battery.

Cooper will obviously be very handy but i think what will determine how competitive they will be is whether they can pick up a couple key position players.

Gotta say C Chook, Sarno has got on well since coming to Mannum. Coach, players and supporters like him. Played some really good football last season. Reading between your none too subtle lines you obviously have issues with him but Mannum is happy to have him. If he was such a crap player/disloyal person you might have gotten over it by now, it has been at least 2 years bud. Maybe you need a bit more intoxication therapy to get over it.
