Damn :(

Well then if they don't work...
What are people's suggestions (or what do you do) to keep mossies at bay when you want to sit outside in the summer?

Is there anything that works?

Besides everyone putting aeroguard on!!...lol

Thanks for the replies :D

I think in the short term I might go with the Mortein thingy's and see how they go.

I was outside for 10 minutes maximum tonight and got bitten way too many times by those pesky mosquitos !!

It depends - you need a fairly high power one strategically placed so it is not drawing the bugs across where you are sitting, but they get to it first - or one on either side - then they seem to work OK...
You also need to have only the yellow lights that don't attract them where you are sitting.

Bug Zappers have worked for me, the idea is to place it away from where you are & they are attracted to the zapper , hence not annoying you. As far as the mossie defence goes, I remember watching a doco that tested all those mossie repellers. They put 100 mosquitoes in a room with each of the following
citronella lamp
one of those plug in the 240V wall socket thingos
mosqito coil

The only one that had any decent effect was the coil. Citronella might smell nice, but it is not all that effective.

We have a reasonably large block here, we have 2 Zappers ( one each side of our outdoor barby area) & rarely get annoyed by bugs, but you can hear those thing cracking away all night. On really warm nights we light a coil or two for extra insurance !!
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies O:)

Everyone has had 'different expereinces' by the looks.

I think I'll start off with the 'cheaper' options and work my way up if it doesn't work.

We don't sit out there all that often,
but when we do I don't want to be eaten alive!

Thanks again O:)

We have a bug zapper that we use only occasionally. First victim is usually the spider that has made it it's home. There is then a fairly regular pop and sizzle of moths and the odd beetle. I don't think it kills any mozzies as they aren't attracted by the light. I think they locate victims by the co2 we exhale.

Definetly works if you have it set up away from where you will be sitting or whatever
