With former league assistant Mike Bawden taking over the Echunga job, is there a chance that his former 'boss' at Sturt may saddle up and have a kick for the Demons? Just a bit of a rumor around the traps. Heard Blakey has been reappointed at Meadows, but may be under a bit of pressure given the side he has dished up with this year and could only manage a 4th placing. Any news on the Maccy job? Coaches all but tidied up for 2007 but still a few spots to go. Also heard the proposed Barker/Ironbank combination for Country may well not get off the ground, a few Country clubs not in favor of it. :(

haven't heard anything about this crow/eagle recruit. don't talk to many club people over summer. we gave you guys a touch up that day. i played in teams that knocked lofty out of two prelims. we shat all over lofty juniors back in the day. ronny's memory is foggy that is not how it happened, trust me, i had a birdseye. but the gimps right why argue. was a funny day out tho and a real crowd pleaser.

No one cares about Blackwood Shoey, But if you want to know i heard a lot of players leaving. Most going to the Southern league. I heard some to Aldinga and some to Noarlunga. Will be interesting to see if they can fill 4 sides this year with so many leaving.

shantylady, you are a tool, as 2words said we never once lost to bridgewater while we were in jnr or senior colts.

and ron i think youll find the reason tubs old man ran on the field was because colesy ran on and had a go at his son. not the other way around. but your right duffman was trying to get the old fella off.
funny how shantys always remember thing different to how it happened.

wolverine, i think youll be with me when i say that the four teams will be filled by a big openended cheque book, for atleast 2007. who knows after that. matbe southern league where they belong.

what eagle/crow is there discussion about. chriss judd didnt play for the crows and hes about the only recruit that could help shanty from another dismal year.

I'm not directly involved with Hills footy but read this forum regularly. If i was to guess which Crows/Eagles player that is being referred to, i'd say its probably Matthew Kluzek, whos a bit of nomad, most recently played in Mt Gambier league. As i said, only a guess though.

As for those posters who have asked about the Maccy coaching job, it looks like one of the gun central division players of the last decade (who is still only 30) has signed on to coach the bloods next year.
This is a big coup for Maccy and despite the fact that he hasn't coached before, if you can't play for this bloke, you would struggle to play for anyone. This guy is one of the most respected players in Hills football.

good call bookie, spot on. the rivalry is now lofty/ironbank. even tho they are bible bashers they play good football. finished 6th last year and will make the finals next year as have only lost a few players from last year. gts raiders played gf in 2001 and although los tby 20+ goals they did beat lofty in prelim at barker by 5 goals. you and the clown 2words may have never lost against raiders but the raiders have beaton lofty in 14 and 17 over the years but lofty wouold have the wood over shanty. not to mention 2000 when raiders knocked of lofty in u14 elimination final. lofty had baldock, fleet, stapes and broadbridge which is a pretty strong line up.

I Have heard of a raining medalist heading to maccy. Wasn't aware to coach though. Be interesting to see how his first stint of coaching goes as well as how many people from barker will follow him there. Do you think he will retain the number 2 guernsey?

Past medalist but not a reigning medalist (unless you know something about someone else  ). Will be a fair coup for the club and if he want's the number 2 guernsey, i'd let him have it but I don't think he's the type who'd worry about it if a player was going to be that protective of it.
