South Australia kicked off their home series against the Perth Heat with a thrilling win at Norwood Oval tonight, winning 2-1 in a exciting contest.

Both sides scored a run a piece in the opening dig, then it was a great display of pitching from both SA's Paul Mildren and WA's Terrence Wohlever with each conceding no runs for the next six innings until they were relieved in the seventh frame.

Excitement was on the diamond and in the stands with based loaded for SA's last at bat before Stefan Welch scored what would be the winning run, thanks to a great rightfield hit by Ben Wigmore.

With one out, Perth managed to get runners at first and third in their last at bat, but a superb double play from the homeside meant Perth couldn't handle the heat, allowing the SA boys to hang on for a thrilling one run win.

The action continues tomorrow down at the Parade with a double header from 3.05pm then the final game of the series starting at 6.35pm.

The Perth Heat have levelled the series at 1 game a piece with a 4-2 win over SA in the first of a double header contest at Norwood Oval.

The teams will now play the deciding thrid game to take the series, and top spot I think, down at Coopers Stadium tonight from 6.35pm.

South Australia took the series over WA tonight with a pretty comfy win, with the scores being 8-3 in the end (I think !!?)

Pretty sure the boys will now retain top spot before heading over to Sydney to face NSW at Olympic Park, Blacktown...

The SA boys keep winning those opening series games, taking the points over the NSW Patriots tonight at Norwood Oval, final scores 8-2.

SA took a while to get going with Richard Bartlett not having the greatest start on the mound and after NSW batted at the top of the 3rd, we trailed 2 runs to 1. Bartlett bounced back well to pitch out six frames before Chris Lawson and Chris Doyle closed out the game.

Things then turned favourably for the top of the table SA team, bringing in 4 runs on the back of some brilliant batting from the home side.

This included 4 shots from Ryan Murphy, 3 awesome hits from game MVP Dan Wilson and some great base running from Dave Washington, who also took a spectacular diving catch at centre field.

Great atmosphere at the Parade tonight with a guest appearance from none other than Santa himself and in front of a great crowd of just over 2,800 fans, the boys had a great win over the Patriots.

Double header at the Parade tomorrow afternoon and eveing, 1st seven inning game at 3.05pm then a 9 inning match from 6.35pm.

Don't forget that the first match of a 4 game series kicks off tonight at the Parade from 6.35pm.

Sa take on the Vics and it's a must win series to keep hopes alive of a home finals series.

Tickets are usually $10 ea for adults I think, but there is a special promotion on for $20 you can use the same ticket to get into all 4 games.

That's great value, so get along to the tradtitional home of baseball in SA and cheer along the boys !!

littlebayman & i went tonight & sa beat the vics 13-6....number 29 for sa hit 3 home runs by himself (sorry i don't know his/there names), lb was stoke he got a ball & other paraphanalia & wants to go TOMorrow night so we'll be there again, it was an enjoyable night & similar to the 'old days', it was amazing just how many faces & people you know that was there, i thought i'd know absolutely nobody & i knew 8 blokes & another 40 faces at the game

the one brickbat i would have is that they charge kids $5.00 to get in, while it doesn't worry me i can see some people thinking it is too much for kids especially considering a concession ticket is the same price

WELL DONE TO THE BASEBALL LEAGUE ON AN ENJOYABLE NIGHT & FOR THE BOYS WINNING

Great to hear you and the little fella had a good time last night Bayman, and it was a great win by the boys and really important they got off to a good start in the series against the Vics.

Number 29 is Michael Collins, the catcher recruited from the ACT, and he did have a great game, not only hitting 3 home runs himself but he also had 8 RBI's, an amazing batting effort from him.

It really is a good atmosphere isn't it, I'm sure there will be more numbers there tonight. Myself, Phil Herden and John Nankevill will be heading along so we will say g'day if we see you.

Tonight's game kicks off at 6.35pm then a double header tomorrow with the first game at 3.05pm, the second at 6.35pm again. Go the Croweaters !!!
