Haddin is a very good player but he can be a twat times. If it isn't a ridiculous appeal he takes hours to get ready to face the next delivery! He should also just leave those wide deliveries.

Anyone would think he was trying to play for a draw.

I give up
AU 5/211
HADDIN 20*
CLARKE 61 *
5 overs
30 legitimate deliveries to go
On a 5th day pitch
and Gayle calls the game off

As a past captain of a cricket club, I would never ever concede a game
Believe it or not , sides have lost 5 wickets within 30 balls from primary school games to Test cricket

Interesting point made by slater (i think) in the commentary this arvo that if the windies had won this test, they would of moved up to 6th in the test rankings, moving ahead of NZ and Pakistan. If they had said that a week ago would have been laughed at but after the last 5 days looks to be close to the mark.
Just goes to show the absolute trash in the media before the start of this week about the talent within the team. Wonder what Kym Hughes and Craddock will have to say tomorrow.

I understand he is playing for a draw but no need to resort to crap like that. Besides it was in the last hour anyway, they are supposed to bowl a minimum of 15 overs.. so it wasn't exactly going to reduce the amount of deliveries he was supposed to face.

Also he was playing for a draw yes, yet he still had a couple of slashes at very wide deliveries! He should have just let them roll through to the keeper.

Anyway it finished in a draw in the end, the Aussies have a lot of work to do, if Siddle doesn't pull up then we will have an even weaker bowling attack which was a bit ordinary this Test.

the five wickets were never going to fall why waste everyones time for another 20 minutes - why mention it was a 5th day pitch? once again adelaide has been dealt up a terrible cricket wicket which gave the bowlers nothing on any day. good for batting but that was it. i cant remebe rthe last time we had a wicket at adelaide that gave the bowlers any encouragement at all - no wonder our state bowlers struggle

i was dissapointed that australia were never looking to win the game 4 an over was very achievable against an inexperienced attack on a good deck.

30 balls
5 wickets
not impossible

AND
The batters are the only ones that can lose
They might pick up a dozen runs
But can lose thier wickets
The dissproportinates were in the WI favour

Even IF one wicket falls then its worth it in my opinion

As I said I would never walk off if I was skipper of the fielding team

I would never ever die wondering

I reckon a guy called Hugh Trumble took 4 wickets in 4 balls once in Test cricket ?

Bit harsh, with only two hours left in a 5 day match it was still game on. Better than a 3 day result on a stinker every day.

It could have been a different story if the aussies were facing a better bowling attack... also I thought the aussies could have done a bit more to force the result. The runs were very gettable.

When you have played nearly 30 hours of cricket, what is another 20 minutes. Cannot believe any international captain would call off a game until there is less balls left than wickets remaining...

Stupid rule, How many times have footy matches been well and truly over at 1/2 time but thankfully there is no such rule as history has shown there has been some miracle comebacks.
Just last season, Norwoods U/18 were down over 10 goals at 3/4 time and got up to win by kicking 12 goals to 1 in the last term.
I remember in a Test match once, Australia were 3/305 against Pakistan and looked in control, chasing about 370 / odd and lost 7/5 to be bowled out for 310. Sarfraz Nawaz took a MIRAKULOUS 7 wickets for 1 run in that spell of bowling to finish with 9/86 after having 2/85 at one stage.

Point is, history will NEVER record miracles if they are NOT given a chance to happen.

I agree

I don't understand why they called the game off early. They've played for 5 days so what's 5 more overs? Who knows what could have happened. I can understand Ponting trying to get out of it but why did Gayle agree to it? Put 9 fielders around the bat and have a crack at it.

Maybe that's unrealistic

With 6 overs to go Barath bowled an over of staright breaks
So in effect there were 36 balls left for the speciallist bowlers

I almost barracked for the WI to win this test after the media tore them to pieces
For almost 5 days they gave it there best shot and gave up with time remaining

GAYLE piss poor
PONTING very happy to call it off

No he didn't. He did take two hat tricks. No one has done that in test to my understanding, although Lasith Malinga has done that in one day cricket.

I think the best in test cricket is four wickets in five balls.
