The Watson experiment rivals the Philidlephia experiment
How can we possibly expect Watson to open and bowl for the long term
It was OK in England coz he hardly bowled in the tests
Being an allrounder gets him in the team
But being the allrounder will most likely ruin his batting and his career
Perhaps bat him at 4-5 ?
Who was the last allrounder to open in Test Cricket
Was it another with the same name who was given a headache[ by Tony Greig ?]
BUT
Its working, he averages 48 with the bat opening
But as the SCANDALous one once sang
""How long can this keep goin' on."
Well how long can it keep going?
As long as he is making runs then he is in the team. If he starts bowling pus, then dont bowl him. His main role is to open the innings at the moment. The fact that he is bowling well at the moment is a bonus but not a condition of him being in the team.
