How will WATTO get his first Test 100 ?

Postby mal » Sat Dec 05, 2009 6:19 pm

Shane Watson
Iconic SAFOOTY allrounder
Stumps day 2 v WI Adelaide Oval
96 not out
Will he get the ton TOMorrow ?
How will get the ton ?
What shot ?

I think WI will go with Benn to start of TOMorrow
As good as Watto is, he is a nervy starter against spin
This is the moment
Benn bowls shortish outside off stump
Watto will attempt to execute the signature late cut
It gets a thickish outside edge and flys through backward point for the 100

2 things will happen
WATTO will punch the air, hoist his bat heavanwards and scream out yesssssssssssssss
At that precise moment NFC will .....
At the moment hes stuck on the Herb and Dorrie Evans
Can the chosen one get there

4 to go Shane

Remember going to a test a while back when Greg Blewett was in the 90's overnight, went straight up top the bookies and threw 50 bucks on him getting out for 99 and he did, reckon I might do the same for Watto tomorrow, but i really hope he gets a huge ton

I think it should be Roach bowling, so therefore either a drive through cover, or a pull shot wide of mid wicket for 4. If he makes the 100, I would think he'll go on to 150.

Interesting quotes from the Sunday MAiL media

WATSON AND WINDIES ANSWER THIER CRITICS
Australian opener Shane Watson finally let fly with live ammunition on home soil.....

FOUR RUNS TO GET MONKEY OF SHANES BACK
Quote coach..""He has probably had more success overseas in the last few years..."

SHANE ANSWERS CRITICS
Boom allrounder Shane Watson proved he has what it takes to make it as an opening batsman

??? Media

TESTS b4 the 96*
497 RUNS
26.15 AVE
On face value the media is right
But being a Watsonologist I will delve into more accurate facts
OPENER b4 this innings
62...53...51...34...40...0...
240 RUNS @40.00
NON OPENER
257 RUNS @19.76

So in essence he has had more success o/s becoz he has opened more often, thats now an undeniable fact
Overall as an opener if he gets 14 more today that guarentees Shane a 50+ average as the opener

Crikeys thats bloody real good for the openerallrounder role he does
He is an extraordinary package to play that dual role
How long he can do it for is another thing
If he can average 40 with bat and 35 with the ball doing this role he will have done a good job

As for the other headline, getting the MONKEY off his back, leave Roy out of this please....

What a DUD !
Take out the 96 yesterday and he's made a GLOBE today.
Australia have several of the best up and coming openers in the world waiting for an opportunity and they persist with Duds like watson.

Chanderpaul got himself out as ALL batsmen do, bowlers just bowl and sometimes get lucky that the batsman makes a MALstake. ;)

JJ, sorry, I should have acknowledged your post.
The Watson experiment rivals the Philidlephia experiment
How can we possibly expect Watson to open and bowl for the long term
It was OK in England coz he hardly bowled in the tests
Being an allrounder gets him in the team
But being the allrounder will most likely ruin his batting and his career

Perhaps bat him at 4-5 ?

Who was the last allrounder to open in Test Cricket
Was it another with the same name who was given a headache[ by Tony Greig ?]

BUT
Its working, he averages 48 with the bat opening
But as the SCANDALous one once sang
""How long can this keep goin' on."
