Same here.

Easy to get to, and people going on about car parking ! Catch a bus / train / tram ya dickheads.

I hope it gets off the ground. Nice pubs in North Adelaide / Town, good food everywhere, great public transport, and Glenelg Oval gets to see some
cricket played too ! Best of both worlds !!
The joy of being on the hill drinking beer cannot be understated

Many positives, but an enclosed stadium would be perfect.

Why? There is only one in Australia that was purpose built and only houses 40k. What would we in Adelaide need such a Stadium for?

Our entertainment centre is sufficient for concerts and if not Adelaide Oval / Wayville is there. If the "enclosed stadium" is to keep you dry when you go to the footy then a cup of concrete is required.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I was at Adelaide Oval for the Anzac Day clash this year, it wasn't exactly bright and sunny.
Seems like they musn't have too many cups of concrete down the Port way, when the weathers bad. Poor weather a common excuse for poor crowds.

Another, i haven't seen one yet. :D ;) .

Mike Rann is the other. I could go into dumb tram extensions, putting a hospital in the worst possible spot and stupid road works that achieve nothing but costs lots but that would be off topic. ;)

1 reason is enough though.

According to you.

Yep, Etihad stadium capacity 56,347 (53,371 seated). I guess if it doesn't matter there was no point mentioning it.

For the sake of debating whether or not we need a covered stadium it does matter. If the only one is Australia only hold +/- 55k then there cant be much of a call for such a venue.

The $450m the Government is offering would probably ( and no doubt one of you will come up with a more accurate figure than me ) need to be doubled ( or thereabouts ). Would it be worth it to keep a few pansies dry every now and then?

Nup.

Be good for my footy club a meal in the Bay Bar and bistro, a little flutter on the pokies and maybe watch a little cricket on Snouts Hill. A little cut the SACA's way and the rest to the Glenelg Footy Club. All good I say, good way to keep up the summer revenue.

Had to laugh when Mr Cox referred to Glenelg oval`s surface as being "slightly tired" the place looks like a shit hole with patches of dead grass everywhere. Les Burdett will surely have his hands full trying to resurrect that playing surface.

I suggest you go there now, the winter grasses look like crap, but by mid October when the summer grasses are through it is sensational as it is right now.

Just needs to be relevelled, top dressed, get the irrigation right and with a better winter wearing grass it will be better all-round.

If you don't believe me go and have a look for yourself right now. it looks in very good nick watching the seahorses three weeks ago.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

So, you're saying with lots of work and some money, it will be a great surface? ;)

I'm not sure what $80 K buys you in grounds maintenance if what i suggested is they have planned. All I'm saying is that in summer it looks good and has a good even covering of grass. In July-September it looks carp.

Their biggest issue is the centre block as it is too low and slow. That is teh biggest amount of work they have to do which is why Les will be involved.

Would be good if tehy do what i suggested so it looks better for footy.

Anyways I thought illogical and ill-thought out posts are what helps drive this site....

Disagree, should be kept for sporting events only.

This is good, each sport needs to still have a base and a ground for smaller events. Glenelg would be a great location for it but it does need a fair bit of work.

The most important part of a cricket field is the pitch and the Bay needs a lot of work in that department.

Lets not forget R&B that Mr Rann's alleged scandal has been brewing for a while now and had the potential to come to the boil at any time. A skilled politician would have no trouble fast tracking or delaying (as circumstances dictated) an announcement of this magnitude.

Timing still a bit fishy for me..
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

hazydog, sometimes it's best just to leave well enough alone.

This is just as much AFL driven as it is by Rann, who is just not clever enough to orchestrate that sequence of events.
