Hondo, yes Warney was outspoken, he would've been one of the players that Jones and Hookes were blabbing about though LOL.

Neither of those guys were angels in that department either.

This from Wikepedia

Despite his solid Test performances, Hodge was dropped after 5 tests in the team and only 3 tests after scoring a a double century for AU 2005/2006 test tour of SA
This decision was made on the back of some poor PC performances by Hodge, who averaged about 25 for the season.
However he was dropped in favour of Damian Martyn, whose PC averages for the season were even lower, and whose most recent test series included an average of 19 in the ashes series
Hodge had averaged 58 from his only 5 tests in the side , but in a surprise selection it was decided that Martyn would be selected based on his reputation as a prolific runscorer in past seasons for AU

Hmnnnn another reason for BH to be shitty ?

Jarrod Kimber on Hodge's retirement:

Good article by Kimber
Mentions how Hodge can now vent his opinions more openly to the press or whatever
Well he has the right surname intial to be a prick of a critic if it amounts to that
H...arvey
H...ughes
H...odge

Kimber says he has a weakness outside off stump
Reb says he cant play spin
I say what a brilliant domestic cricketer and a run machine this decade, and errr not a bad Test Cricketer

He might come out of retirement he did say he was only ever picked to replace Ponting. He may just need a replacement for a while after being hit on the arm.

What a surprise. He makes the odd statement that he's going to play just two more Shield games before retiring (so he can safely surpass the Vic all-time runs record) gets it in the first of those two Shield games and now an "injury" rules him out of what was meant to be his final Shield game.

Once again self-centred to the bitter end.

I don't want to say too much. All I'll say is it has nothing to do with non selection for Australia, or cricket in general. Let's just say there are some things in life more important than sport. As I said, it will possibly be made known in the next few months .. and some people who have been slating the guy may feel a little silly when they know.

So if the situation is as these posts are making it out to appear why would he still be available for the IPL where he is going to be out of the country for over a month?

It all makes sense now, instead of missing the $$$$ of the IPL which is on now and he is playing, he would be stuck at home playing in the Shield final.

$$$ talks again....why else would you retire mid season?

Exactly Dutchy. It would have looked worse for him had he not retired when he did because he would've have chosen the IPL over the Shield final. Always thinking of himself and no-one else.
