So Juicy, if the young fella had a weak moment and was seduced by the almighty dollar for a fleeting moment and then thought maybe i won't play there and is "contracted (legally binding of course  )" where to from here? Will the coach of Marion enforce that the fella stay out of footy for the year? Who wins? No-one i wouldn't have thought, especially the player in question, i have no idea who we are discussing here but find it amusing that when guys get serious about "contracts" at this level they continually state "they are binding". B*llsh*t. If a player wants to play for your club and has signed then great, if he has signed and changed his mind, bad luck. A player "contracted" to you that doesn't want to play for you is worth nothing. Contracts (at this level) are not worth the paper they are written on.

You can only hold the player back if they owe money to the club. You are correct. Not worth the paper they are written on.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep

Ok then, what if it comes around to February and Marion are asking him to sign clearance paperwork and he refuses to sign the clearance as he doesn't want to go there? Not much Marion could do without a clearance form signed.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Understand what your saying speccy weccy! But contracts are there to protect clubs from this sort of thing. He actually did not get lured by big $$$ because there was never a BIG offer made. He came down with 2 mates and the young lad in question was the first one to jump onboard followed by the other two. I agree this is not a good situation, BUT contracts B*llsh*t at this level YOU IDIOT. Footy clubs are not cheap to run anymore so protection for investments/players/recruits is critical. Again wait and see, open communication goes along way. Finding out on forums is not a good way. Be honest and get treated honest, be shifty and prepare to be shifted in return. Anyway enough of this crap & satisfying peoples opinions as this is not good to read for the young fella - we will wait and see what happens.

You and your mate Bendigo Bank or whoever he calls himself these days are in la la land. Play hardball and you will rarely recruit again, footy players can be different species get them in different environments and they will act differently, perhaps even tell you exactly what you want to hear cause they don't have the heart to say the truth and or change their mind shortly after, especially the younger breed, make the fella sit out a year of footy then, that'll make him happy. I REPEAT, contracts at this level mean squat! I'm sure Bendigo Bank will disagree to that though!

Haha - well played. I do not believe I have said anything about making him stand out of football for a year. Agree with you about coaxing young fellas as this is obviously what Tailem have done since he made his decision to play at Marion. Alot of conversation on here, if only the same was done from the young fella. We have let two 2010 contract players go this year so stop pointing bullshit allegations towards the club. I agree if someone doesn't want to be there what is the point of having them. So everyone back the f$#@ down and we will wait and see where it goes as at the moment Marion FC have not been informed or contacted by the young fella or Tailem. Until then you are all throwing s%$t at a unknown result. ;)
