A monster Raffle for the CFB to assist in financing.
A big onus on clubs to sell them.

The club gets $5 for each $10 ticket sold is my understanding - 1st prize is a land & home package

Yes, but if our club is going to sell $10 tickets to members and supporters both the club and the ticket purchasers would rather see all the money come back to the club. We will sell our own raffle tickets thanks.

And trying (unseccusfully in our league so far) to force us into buying sports tape from a specific supplier.

Tell the Community Football Board to get stuffed

Postby Goldberg » Mon Dec 21, 2009 1:34 pm

A List of rediculous demands on local footy add to it please-

Sell a raffle of which only half proceeds go to the actual club
Buy merchandise from a specific supplier
Buy sporting goods from nominated supplier
Pay per player for affiliation
1 common system across the state, (too bad for clubs who need 30-32 points just to survive, with only 15 on offer)

my limited understanding of the rules, is the difference between leagues with 30+ points & those with 15 is that in the 30+ league,
every player must have 1 point to them, so a starting 20 = min 20 points. whereas 15 point league, the minimum for a starting 20 is 0 points.

however i know there other smaller issues with classification, but as far as i know the example above is the reason for the apparent "gulf"

Is'nt there such a thing as the "fair trade practices act", which states that no governing company can monopolise certain area's of trade. what happens if 1 of our major sponsors who have dealt with the club for over 10 years is not 1 of them? Are we supposed to just drop them, which would probably lead to losing them
What next? Are they going to tell us where to buy our Meat & Cakes? They have zero idea of what it takes to run a club in the country & just how much give & take is involved in local sport & thus sponsorship.

The above seems to be what they want to happen. They keep telling leagues/clubs that they will save money.

Trouble is some clubs are gullible/dumb enough to want to take the short term savings associated without thinking of the impacts in 5 years time when there is only 2 clothing companies in the state. I'm pretty sure that the apparel licensing is just the "thin edge of the wedge"

Sounds a bit like they want to run it their way and stuff the rest of you. I think there might be a bit more to this just around the corner.
The licensees must be paying something to the CFB in the way of rebates/kickbacks so is this added to the price beforehand?
I think it might be! Cheaper jumpers, shorts & socks no way!

And they won't be able to cope, they struggle now. It used to be that Monopoly was just a game, but not any more!

Not sure if word has got around yet, but Darren Chandler signed a letter on behalf of SANFL to say they did not see it as being feasible at this time. Yeah :-bd Chandler for speaking up on behalf of the local clubs.
At Flaggies we already sell the Community Lottery Tickets set up through one of the Credit Unions. We have done so for about 4 years and find organisers are community minded in the setting up, and paying out. Ticket costs are more reasonable than CFB proposal, so are easier to sell too.

Stay tuned guys, I believe there is a sponsorship and fund raising tool that shoots the lights out coming soon. I believe 1 major regional league and 2 SANFL clubs have taken it on board and it ticks all the boxes. Backed by some pretty big names across the sporting spectrum including AFL. Have seen and supports grass roots and local communities - fantastic. Maybe that made MR C change his mind ? Maybe he has seen the next big thing ? Believe the VCFL have adopted similar concept.

But will it be of any benefit to the clubs would be my first concern?
