I found this quite an interesting article in relation to the balance between bat and ball that we have spoken about a bit recently

The bloke talks about making the ball smaller to make batting harder BUT u would then have to make the wicket (stumps + bails -commonly confused with the pitch) narrower bcos the ball then would pass through them, this would then defeat the purpose as it would then make it harder for bowlers unless they made the wicket wider by having 4 stumps.

The answer is to make the outfields slower and boundries longer so batsman would actually have to take a bit more of a risk to hit boundries by belting the ball harder rather than just direct the ball into the gap with a gentle push of the bat and see the ball rocket to the fence.

I've got an idea. Why not leave the games as it is? We just saw West Indies beaten inside 3 days in Brisbane, not all games are dominated by batting.

It's amazing. We see a game where the bowlers get on top and people whinge that batsmen aren't scoring quickly enough, but the moment we see batting on top, people whinge that batting is too easy.

Test cricket is a battle between bat and ball. Sometimes the bat wins, sometimes it's the ball. That's the game as it has been for over 130 years. Leave it alone.

In the aftermath of the Kotla fiasco, offspinner Harbhajan Singh has lashed out at pitches that have nothing for the bowlers. While the abandoned ODI in Delhi was a result of a "dangerous" pitch, tracks such as the one used in the high-scoring draw between India and Sri Lanka in Ahmedabad were also unfit for cricket, Harbhajan said.


"The Ahmedabad pitch was purely a batting pitch and bowlers, be it me, Amit Mishra or Muttiah Murlitharan, were butchered by the batsmen, which was not at all justice to the bowlers," Harbhajan told PTI.


A total of 1598 runs were scored in the Ahmedabad Test for just 21 wickets; there were seven centuries in the game, including a double, and Harbhajan's figures were 2 for 189. "We should not play Test matches on such kind of wickets, because they will finish all the bowlers. They are not fit for any kind of cricket," Harbhajan said. "We should prepare wickets for Test matches, where fast bowlers can get advantage on initial days and later on spinners can show their talent."
