Sure, some people will take advantage of the City and it's attractions, but me and Junior Boon ( 13 ) won't quite be as excited by it all.

If though the deal works out to be better for my club, I am all for it.

Give Jnr Boon 5 years (which will be about the timeframe to have it up* and Im sure he will like the city :)

Especially after 5 years of drinking in pubs at Alberton prior to that. Drinking age is 13 in Alberton isn't it???

Can guarantee the hill wont be there, it will be an "all seated" stadium to then allow the World Cup bid

Interesting they reckon within 3 years it will be done, but surely they wont be able to start until after the Ashes next year...

Just got on the AFL website and they are saying the design plans for Adelaide Oval will include retaining the Hill.

cant see them playing the World Cup there then, as it needs to be a fully seated stadium, I dont think they would accept temporary seating either

Surely retaining the grassed hills for future generations of yobbos is more important than putting seats in to host matches, that, in all likelyhood, will never happen.

Oh no! Killing the grassy areas for ******* Soccer??? Don't allow them to do it. I've been to the Gabba and while the wicket is great and the seating comfortable THE JOINT'S GOT NO SOUL. People will cease to mention the Adelaide Oval when speaking of beautiful Cricket Grounds once the grass has gone. DON'T DO IT SA!!

Surely temporary seating is an option for the World Cup if it happens? Why would FIFA care so long as what is there at the time meets their standards?

If they can have a "temporary" facility/track for the V8s they can do something for a one off soccer tournament.

Temporary seats should be OK. They had them at the Olympics at Hindmarsh (which is a co-exist tournament with Fifa), so couldn't see any problems.

I would've though the AFL may have had something about having not seated areas ? No other ground with a 40k capacity or over has a "hill".

Seriously hope it goes ahead. Especially if it means the Redbacks play cricket at Glenelg 8)
The joy of being on the hill drinking beer cannot be understated

No why would you say that?

Id dont think a WC stadium has ever had temporary seating and they defianately wont accept a hill - this will be interesting to see FFA's response

I don't think the World Cup is a key element in this deal though, I get the impression that it's more about getting AFL to Adelaide Oval than providing a World Cup venue. I think that would be a nice bonus, but not an essential component.

There is this recently launched proposal, which includes a multi-purpose stadium in a central location, with a railway hub.
More details are to come, but the initial figures on rebuilding the RAH where it is look like saving enough to pay for much of this.
[I only got a quick look and a fulll analysis is needed.]

Agree it doesnt seem part of this but surely if the government is being reponsible it should have a plan in place, no use finding out that these renovations dont meet requirements once done...

If they require the hill to be permanently removed for a World Cup match, I say screw the World Cup. Why can't they have World Cup matches at AAMI Stadium?

I can't find any mention anywhere of the hill being removed for the World Cup. In fact on the abc website it suggested that 'the hill' was one of the defining features of the Adelaide Oval that would be kept under this proposal.

The article in the Advertiser mentioned nothing about soccer, I think it's just journalists speculating to be honest.

Nicole Kidman is the face of the campaign apparently  As was said on the 7PM Project tonight "she's not even the face of Nicole Kidman anymore". WTF are the soccer loonies thinking using that weird ugly old freak as their face of the campaign?
