the Bible can never really be disproven, plus there are many instances where the same event is told of from a different person (esp in regard to Jesus) and the predictions it has made thus far put it in good stead...

I'm not about to get suckered into this god awful (excuse the pun) conversation but how can a book that was written thousands of years before these events predict them after the event?

The same way (but slightly different) to the Sports Almanac from 'Back to the Future'. That little ripper of a publication predicted events and got them all right !!! ;)
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Knew it was only a matter of time until someone brought this painful faith to this thread.
Did you have to Pseudo ?
I honestly tried to be a good pastafarian. I gorged and gorged on His noodley goodness
(note: noodley, not nuggety) but I over did it & instead of receiving the rapture, I got a rupture.

If there is truly a heaven up there you can bet there are no plumbers.
Every time god sits on his 'holey' throne, his enigmatic excrement falls all over us down here.
Guess that's where the expression Holy S**t comes from.

In fairness you really need to read all the excluded bits cut out in [I think] the 12th century to make an assessment. I've had a quick look through The Apocrypha which contains some of them..

i understand the apocrypha to be books that were written that were never published in the bible to to being 'dubious' or 'questionable value'... now i also understand it was a church elders decision back in the whatever century to not print these...

i haven't read them Pseudo so tell me, do they unlock the mysteries ofthe faith? you must be a little curious to have read them...

I am curious by nature.
I read the Bible as a child as my parents were Salvos, and again later as a teenager when I got interested in comparisons.
At High School I changed denomination each year - admittedly to whichever group stayed in the home class room - and sampled that way.
Also then, I attended the odd Mormon service with a school friend whose family were members, which worried my mother lest they convert me.
[I told her I was made of sterner stuff, and she need not worry.]

Later, I read the Qu'ran in translation, and bits of the Bhagavad Gita and translations of some Zoroastrian remnants.
I tried to read the Book of Mormon, but its clunkiness defeated me.
I also struggled to get through some Baha'i literature for the same reason.
I came across a copy of The Apochrypha years later - the content is nothing outstanding, just disputed books excluded from the Bible when it was formulated.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Apocrypha

None of this revealed Divine Truth to me, not even when I sat in the backyard of a Shia backyard mechanic in Melbourne and discussed the sub groups of Islam with him while he worked on my car...
I am not a believer in any religion.

I enjoyed reading Immanuel Velikovsky's attempt to reconcile all the ancient writings including Egyptian sources with the Bible and the Talmud.

Never read them, have never really been aware of their existence. I laboured under the yoke of catholicism for 22 years and was exposed to most of the bible, but had never heard of this "Apocrypha" until recent years. Psyber "seems to be very intelligent" in this case ;)
