Looks as though South once again the sacrificial offering when there is a Sat Arvo game on at Footy Park. 4 of the 5 affected games involve South by my calculations.

Round 6 Port V South at Alberton is in direct competition to a Showdown. Brilliant programming. Could be one of the smallest crowds of the season I reckon.

Elizabeth usually has a couple of night games early and one/two late.

Instead of a night game
This year they host Anzac Day Game April 25 v Sturt
Needs to be day game

Also have Glenelg scheduled @ hamra homes Rd 23 (Time TBA) ... Baring a Crows final at the time you would think that will also be at night.

So should be 3 night replaced by 2 night and Anzac Day.

The inclusion of a split round is interesting. Particularly since the bye should obviate any need for a split round.

I think Phil is on the money - I'd expect the Glenelg game in round 23 to be a night game (might even be Friday night if the Crows get scheduled a Saturday night final).

I think you could class the ANZAC game as 'twilight' with a 3:10pm start in April - the lights usually are taking effect in the last quarter anyway.

If that's the case, I still think 2 night + 1 twilight is a little on the lean side, but it's on par with last season.

I think it's more to do with no state game, not wanting to start the season after the AFL season, and still having the GF on the first Sunday in October than players having a rest.

Also noticed 9th placed Panthers get the round 23 bye and 8th placed Port Magpies get the round 22 bye - looks like the SANFL have taken that feedback on board.

Exactly look for at least 2 split rounds in the event of an 8 team competition 3 x 7 rounds (21 weeks) with two split rounds makes for a 23 week minor round.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

At last. :)

I'm skeptical that Thebarton would be Friday night and I would expect that would be changed. However, if temporary lighting is used or they improve the lights that are there over summer, that would be aboslutely magnificent.

Another aspect of the draw I like is that we play South at Noarlunga on the holiday Monday after ANZAC day. Good idea. :)

Nah looks like the SANFL have a pretty good idea on who is going to be battling for the spoon in 2010

tough draw for the dogs play both Glenelg and Sturt 3 times and end the season with Eagles away, Sturt away, Glenelg home.

Good draw for the bloods I feel. Panthers 3 times, Norwood 3 times and Port 3 times. Like the night games too they will be a hit I feel.

Wouldn't want t be the eagles having 3 weeks off due to having the bye during the split round. That is the only thing I don't understand about the draw.

Has anyone noticed that the League start time has changed from 2 pm to 2.10 pm which means that the Reserves start time could change from 11.15 am to 11.25 am.

good pickup me, re 2.10pm start.

I wonder if that means ABC TV will be live/live again (not 10mins in delay).

I noticed that too. I also noticed Sturt play South 3 times in the first 14 rounds!

True, I thought that at first, but if there was a state game then the same thing would happen. Hard to know whether that's a blessing or not towards the business end of the year. Would be interested to see how teams have performed for the 2-3 games after a three week break in the past.
Think for Sturt West and Glenelg it means week on, week off, week on, week off (or vice versa) for a month.

Wow, 2 night games at Thebby! Against a couple of well supported clubs as well. Will be very interested to see how that goes. Obviously they are getting a lighting upgrade (there was a plan somewhere that had a massive upgrade of Thebarton Oval and surrounds by the council including lighting).

No footy for the Eagles on the Easter weekend in the first round - can't complain. Also have the probable top 4 sides in the last 4 rounds which will show where we're at (for better or worse).

Dogs have 3 BYES in the first 15 rounds.

Thankfully the split round is after to give the boys another break before finals. Otherwise CDFC would have had to play the last 8 rounds straight going into finals.

When will the SANFL start working out a fixture list that maximises attendances. The AFL do it.
