Pup - Back still not good

Postby Rik E Boy » Thu Nov 19, 2009 8:30 am

According to Ippy radio this morning Pup is still receiving treatment on his troublesome back after his ton against the Tiggers this week. If he's not fit, don't do a Brett Lee and play him so he breaks down. Rest him against Bangladesh...er..I mean the West Indies. Pup should not be selected to play in the first test. It's a long summer folks.

Interesting.... :-?

If Clarke doesn't come up, Phil Hughes needs to get a shot at opening and Watson pushed down the order to 6.

You think Jaques is the Phil that should be in? I tend to agree, but in the interests of longevity, I think Hughes is the right way to go. Having said that, Jaques is highly deserving of a place.

Turns out none of this matters, because the squad has been named with Clarke included, also Dougie B.

Australia squad: Simon Katich, Shane Watson, Ricky Ponting (capt), Michael Hussey, Michael Clarke, Marcus North, Brad Haddin (wk), Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Hauritz, Peter Siddle, Ben Hilfenhaus, Doug Bollinger.

Phil Hughes should never be given another Baggy Green until that awful technique is sorted out. And Test Cricket is not the place to do that. His onside play is absolutely shocking. If he can work that out he'll be a gun but he hasn't done so yet. He's only a young fellow but not liking what I'm seeing at the moment.

Phil Jacques would be deserving, but he has not played much cricket in the last 2 years.

Is it time to give Chris Rogers another crack?
