Same story for Sheidow again this week had Keswick 5 for 89 as we have had each side 5 or 6 down for not many only to let a batsman or partnership take over. We bowled well again though they just had the depth Mackay came out at 6 and we dropped him on 0 tough chance to the keeper and twice again before 40 both 2 tough chances again also could of had another LBW shout turned down 2nd ball Ormsby faced which had to be close which could had made things alot different at 7 for 90.

But never happened and once Mackay got to 50 tho there was no where you could ball to him without it racing to the fence played some great shots. He smashed a cut shot that Peewee dropped and Broke his finger now where an opener and Leggy short for 6-8 weeks.

Heath is too good a player to give that many chances too. You guys seem to be a wicket away from rolling sides cheaply but haven't been able to do it on a couple of occasions.

Thats what we keep saying where just that 1 wicket short each week and a player like that you certainly cant give a chance to and you need to grab every half chance you get. Were young and alot of us havent played many 75 over matches and tend to switch off through these middle overs when we should be really rolling sides quickly live and learn we know what areas we need to work on just may take time.

And for all those sides that fielded the majority of the day on Saturday, dont worry you get some payback this week with the opposition having to field in 23 degreees ;)

I thought I'd follow up to my suggestion from last week that playing cricket in excessive heat should be disallowed on the basis of fairness and equal playing conditions.

So, I spent 5 mins and did some simple stats just to see...

The numbers below are based on both team's score, but only the first team's score if they got bowled out cheaply (sub 100). Reason being - team 2's score isn't what I consider proper data as their end-of-innings was cut short (usually declared or won the game), so it throws out the data.

Average score on the weekend: 237.67 runs
Average score for the previous round: 152.83 runs

Other interesting aspects to the round...
* a team that got beaten outright last round posts 280 this week
* another team that went incredibly close to being beaten outright makes 268

So draw your own conclusions.

PS Yes I know it's a very limited amount of data... not much I can do about that
PPS Yes if we'd made 352 I'd like to think I'd still bring this up

As I pointed out in my previous post, there's only a probability of 1-2 days being called off per year even if the temperature limit was lowered to 35 going by the past 30 years of weather records. So if we stuck to 37 or so, there's less likelihood of even getting that many days called off.

I honestly don't think it'd effect how many days of cricket we play per year. From recent memory, we often lose 1 or 2 days prior to Christmas due to wet conditions. Probably won't happen this year though... ;)

Forecast for a "shower or two" this saturday. You guys might get lucky with the weather. Field in the nice warm weather and not have to bowl with a wet ball and slippery outfield. Good toss to lose some would say ;) ;) .

Ahhh, but if it gets a bit too wet you get to go off and wait till it's "safe" again.

Maybe with a bit of moisture in the wicket that brutal matting of yours will be a little less harsh on the cricket ball ;)

Yes that was a little disappointing, needed a hand to make a few more ;). On a serious note I thought you were the pick of the ramblers bowlers on the weekend.

And getting hit for 14 off the first over did the ball a heap of good ;). Seriously though the matting is always fine with our ball so don't know why you guys seem to have a problem with it. A bit like Blesing whinging that the ball wasn't seaming around enough for him seems like he has gotten to used to your pitch, which does too much IMO.

Cheers mate - the cheque's in the mail...

That 2nd ball we got from Russell was a shocker. No excuses, we bowled badly with it, but it was scuffed massively on one side and had a fair old chunk out of the other. Can't complain though, our first one was rooted. I think the ball hitting the roof, Marion road, fences etc probably didn't help it.

I think that may have been our ball from the first week of the South Rd game that i gave to Russell at tea. It was about the same amount of overs old as your ball was at the same stage. Not a great ball by any means but i offered it as an option.

The cheque for the ball can come with mine for talking you up thanks RB ;)

Doesn't matter which ball you use on the WYC wicket. Just don't use one you think is a jaffer ;)

43C tomorrow.....shame that wasn't saturday's forecast and we could escape with a draw. Still the rain forecast for saturday might make things tough for the fielding side.

Sad day if your praying for a draw AF. Facing WYC with no Hoppy on our Postage Stamp oval (as miller calls it), you should give yourself a massive chance!

But the rain either way, could have a big affect i would think!

May even give myself a bowl this week ;)
