Totally agree Ace. I for one will never switch clubs no matter how much more cash other clubs offer me.

I think you'll find that they didn't knock the offer back. The initial offer was made to them both and also Greenwood with the idea that either of these two scenarios would be recruited for the A grade coaching position available at the time. My intelligence tells me that Freeling withdrew the offer to the TV boys, when Greenwood decided to take the role, hence the coaching position was no longer available, so they were told they were no longer wanted by the club. So they certainly didnt knock the offer back from Freeling, that sounds more like someone is pumping up thier own tyres

Thats crap Ace and MC, if you were offered $10G to sign and $1000 a game I guarantee you would not knock that back. Thats potentially $25,000-$30,000 for one season of footy   get your hands of it lads

For what its worth the rumours around the Hills are that a few of the TV players are on $1200-$1500 a game. Hughes was flying a guy down from Darwin and rumoured to be paying him $1000. The fact that he was prepared to fly him from Darwin each week makes it clear how much money TV throws around. Also that to one of their big name ex league signings the sign on fee was $15000. No non SANFL club could compete with TV if players are making decisions based on $$.

Exactly, I'm pretty sure they didnt knock back an offer, rather we no longer required once Greenwood had signed. But your right drifter its all he heard she heard, but thats what this forum is all about!!

Gee you guys talk crap. Plain and simply we need to buy in quality recruits due to the fact we cant compete with a small population base othewise we would be in the APFL.
All the other clubs in the BL&G are no saints. We had a crack at a particular player last year but we were eventually outbidded by Ango.
Go figure!

Correct Daisy. Dosen't take much to sell a club with marketable values.
Culture, premierships and history will always attract players below market value.
Word down the Angaston main street is that the "B-TRAIN" will continue on in 2010.
Been to the top of the mountain - 1908, 1911, 1912, 1913, 1914, 1915, 1920, 1925, 1926, 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1945, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1977, 1986, 2003, 2013

BL&GFL Angaston

Postby cream cheese » Thu Nov 12, 2009 10:44 pm

Word on the streets of Angaston is that a former colts and Agrade premiership player Kane Read might be back in the blue and white next year after 3 years playing amateur footy in WA would be pretty handy having a 6'4 forward who kicked 65 goals from centre half forward and ruck in a grand final side! And it won't cost any points!!

Put in a matured Kane Read into Angaston's line up after a 65+ goal year in WA amateurs can play either end and in the middle and costs no points I will be seeing more than my monies worth next year. Heard Bascombe has already started preseason look forward to watching him return to his peak!!

there is a broad cross section of football scientists that contribute to this forum who will give us their objective opinion but i do take your point that the one eyed goat farmers from angaston should be moderated more closely.

I am more than happy to be forthcoming with my objective view.
To many punters surprise, I will pick Angaston.
I believe that the Panthers have had their dress rehearsal and will take the next step in 2010.
Excellent mix of experience and youth, well coached and a couple of new recruits to top it off.

BEEGRADER wrote:Not a regular reader of this forum but some of the comments brought to my attention regarding South Gawler have prompted me to reply. It is simply beyond belief that the rumours people hear down at the pub or read on an anonymous forum suddenly become gospel.

Fact 1: The players that have left South were not encouraged to stay as it is those same players that have let the club down year in year out over the last 5 years. If they had any conscience they would repay every cent they were paid over this period and then apologise for putting their hand out in the first place.

Fact 2: The Jeff Brown/CDFC conspiracy theory reads like something out of Tom Clancy spy novel! There is no way in the world Jeff would compromise his position at CDFC to funnell potential talent back to his ex club. If a young player does not make it there it is their decision as to what club they play for. Not their coach. If the players local club does not keep track of their progress and they end up somewhere else that is due to their own mismanagement. Suggest the knockers look at how many SG juniors playing in the 18s and reserves next season.

Fact 3: It is a well known fact that South Gawler does not have the money a Tanunda or Freeling has so to start from scratch and rebuild by recruiting promising youngsters seems like a smart move to me. To go out and buy an Eichner or a Greenwood is your standard short term fix and does nothing for a club. This is the reason Freeling will win the odd flag but has no soul, no tradition and no future.
Fact 4: Osama, you are drawing a very long bow accusing South of cooking the books. I can give you numerous examples of each of the other 8 clubs cheating the system but from memory I dont recall any of those clubs having all their points stripped off them. Oh, thats right South were a powerhouse when that happened and had to be stopped to allow Nuri,Kapunda and Barossa some glory.

how can you say that about a country footy club you freaking knob. freeling is a vey proud club and we do need to spend cash to get flags mainly because we dont have enough of a population to have that many star locals. just because your club dosnt have any cash because use are hopless at running a club dosnt mean you should say stuff like that.

In hindsight my comments may have been a little harsh. Please provide me with a list of your 10 year players.

ps, sorry it took so long to reply Pinch, took me a while to convert your post back to some remote form of English. They do have schools in Freeling now dont they?

darren leske is all i need to say better than any local player you club will ever see. he stays around for the pride and traditon of the club.
