BEEGRADER wrote:Not a regular reader of this forum but some of the comments brought to my attention regarding South Gawler have prompted me to reply. It is simply beyond belief that the rumours people hear down at the pub or read on an anonymous forum suddenly become gospel.

Fact 1: The players that have left South were not encouraged to stay as it is those same players that have let the club down year in year out over the last 5 years. If they had any conscience they would repay every cent they were paid over this period and then apologise for putting their hand out in the first place.

Fact 2: The Jeff Brown/CDFC conspiracy theory reads like something out of Tom Clancy spy novel! There is no way in the world Jeff would compromise his position at CDFC to funnell potential talent back to his ex club. If a young player does not make it there it is their decision as to what club they play for. Not their coach. If the players local club does not keep track of their progress and they end up somewhere else that is due to their own mismanagement. Suggest the knockers look at how many SG juniors playing in the 18s and reserves next season.

Fact 3: It is a well known fact that South Gawler does not have the money a Tanunda or Freeling has so to start from scratch and rebuild by recruiting promising youngsters seems like a smart move to me. To go out and buy an Eichner or a Greenwood is your standard short term fix and does nothing for a club. This is the reason Freeling will win the odd flag but has no soul, no tradition and no future.
Fact 4: Osama, you are drawing a very long bow accusing South of cooking the books. I can give you numerous examples of each of the other 8 clubs cheating the system but from memory I dont recall any of those clubs having all their points stripped off them. Oh, thats right South were a powerhouse when that happened and had to be stopped to allow Nuri,Kapunda and Barossa some glory.

how can you say that about a country footy club you freaking knob. freeling is a vey proud club and we do need to spend cash to get flags mainly because we dont have enough of a population to have that many star locals. just because your club dosnt have any cash because use are hopless at running a club dosnt mean you should say stuff like that.

In hindsight my comments may have been a little harsh. Please provide me with a list of your 10 year players.

ps, sorry it took so long to reply Pinch, took me a while to convert your post back to some remote form of English. They do have schools in Freeling now dont they?

Apologies Pinch, this should be directed at Checkside.

Thats the classic contradiction there Texas. 4 loyal blokes who are leaving!!

And obviously everyone that has been part of the playing squad over the last 5 or so years is at least a part of the problem. Who else could be?

Cmon BEEGRADER you had your supporters believe that it was only injuries that stopped south from winning the flag in 2009 , now your saying you haven't been good enough for 5 years .. with that much sh-t coming out peoples mouths its no wonder people piss on your bar.

Pinch, that is incorrect. With last years squad at full strength South may have snuck into the 4 but still 10 goals behind the Magpies.

you cant keep changing your tune to fit the smell BEEGRADER , there is no hope south would have won the required 12 games to make the four this year even with a full squad, all of their recuits and ron barrassi in charge and the truth, although it may hurt is that you were 15-20 goals behind the magpies.

On results , the top 4 are currently 5-10 goals better than willaston and barossa who finished no less than 5 wins behind , south freeling and kapunda are further a field than those clubs.

The bottom 5 are going to need more than a few good recruits to climb the ladder next year. Barossa and maybe willaston are the only chances to sneak in if a few things go their way during the year.

Pinch, facts are South along with every other club is a long way behind Tanunda, even at full strength. Whether it be 10 goals or 20 goals it is irrelevant. In fact given the new points system the clubs that struggled over the last two seasons will be better placed in the next few years than the ones that made the finals always knowing they were only making up the numbers, eg GC,Nuri and Angaston. That said it was a great effort from Angaston to make a game out of it for a half. Just goes to show you dont need a side full of superstars and high priced recruits to be super competitive.

Facts are Harvey, Dawes, Robinson, Watson, Bain, Kurtz, Doeke & Pech are all highly valued superstars of the league. Whether or not they get paid is irrelevant.

Last i knew the losing margin was extremely relevant to the team on the receiving end of it

I understand that the man with the deepest voice in BL&G football was a little bewildered, maybe shocked with the announcement of his captaincy at the presentation night.
My intel tells me he didn't know of the upcoming announcement, sounds hard to believe.

Yes, he has said that he wants to finish off where it all began, will be a handy pick up if it eventuates.
Will come cheaply, only a $69 Virgin flight from Melbourne.
Could be the best $69 ever spent in the BL&G.
Only needs 3 games to qualify, but I would like 6-7 games out of him to develop some cohesion with the side.
Burgess is also confirmed to be returning to the club after his coaching stint.
Haven't seen him kick the leather for a few years, but could be a pinch hitter up forward.

Beegrader dont think tanunda won that gf easily, things could of gone the other way if the footy gods were smiling a little more on ango that day, was a great first half and could of been alot more in front at half time. To tanundas credit they played the premiership quarter better and took home the cup. (CVNTS).
All i hope next year is the comp is more even and every game could go either way! Know that cant happen as ango wont lose! but in an ideal world which we all live in....not....would make for a very interersting game of snakes andf LADDERS!
On the south thing, bit over it but those four boys named wouldn't of made ango's gf team! Need heart to play for ango!
Good to be back, love the banter, just wonder whos talkin to who??
And Whos getting the most??
Love this game!

I see in todays bunyip Freeling have picked up 2 more players taking their total to 13 points so far.

I estimate Freeling's 2010 player/coach committments on market value hitting the 75K mark and its not even December yet.

If you've got it spend it

Precipice,

Good to see another newbie on here.
Could you kindly advise the tripe you speak of? Pretty confident all my statements are factually correct.(except the bit about no schools in Freeling)

There will be no dramas for quality at Tanunda next year. Most current players to stay and a big signing on the way. yes there are a few little rumbles, but that happens when u have a shit load of guns!
