Couldnt agree more Wristy and Brock, man handling the whistleblowers is a totally gutless act IMHO, and cant be tolerated. A quick perusal of the Australasian Rulebook 2009 (very interesting reading) tells us that this goose will have to be looking at around a 12 week suspension at the very least...

Also im told that the long overdue results and ladders will FINALLY be updated on the gaelic website in the next day or so!

well 12 as a minimum and consider the fact he had already been given his marching orders,he harrassed and threatened the ref after the game and he absolutely must go for the year which would be about 15.i hope he gets life.we dont want or need peanuts like that in our association.
irish australians should consider themselves very lucky the ref did not call the game.this would have been a huge blight on their club and would have had to result in club fines.for a club with so many commitee members its hard to believe an incident like this would be allowed to occur or in any way tolerated.from all reports the lack of support given to the ref during and after the incident was also very very dissapointing.
should this ass-clown play again this season i think you will find that 3 mens referees will be hanging up the whistle.i have umpired over 300 official Gaelic games and i have sent off less than 5 players due to the fact that i am always trying to promote and facilitate everyone playing this great game.however in this case its simple, hes gotta go!

Will definitely be interesting to see the penalty imposed, cannot think of any offence worse than hitting an umpire. Considering a player from our club was suspended last season for 6 weeks for saying "You're fu$#%n joking" in the vicinity of a ref, you would think at least a 2 year ban would apply....

Also interesting to see that the suspension of Daniel Della Verde is to continue, will be about 2 years since his last game, very harsh imo considering he was not sent off in his final two seasons, was not involved in the off field incidents, represented sa in gaelic and his father funded the 2003 sa minors team trip.....Guess its in our hands whether we appeal to the national body but thats something that will need to be discussed by our own committee. Ive spoken to him and he is very disappointed to say the least

ok signor Wristy
Here comes some tipping genious for you.

WI by 1-5 v Na Fianna. The goats will be too strong for an inexperienced Warriors (I would hold my selection of Gags for BOG pending on which player gets him as O' Driscall & Bryant are two of the best stoppers in SA & Mick Lawlor knows who to stop) PS D Flo's hair may be stimulated by the extreme light that comes of Bryant's pale white skin.

St Brendans by 5-10 against Mitcham. Lead by Zaluski (or at least he put his name on half the jumpers) the reigning Hannigan cup winners will be too strong for the new boys on the block

Finally Flinders over Onka's by 1-5. You can't go past Flinder prior to x-mas when it isn't a final.

As for the plethora of Zaluski's jerseys running around at St Brendan's, those boys tell me the rough English translation for the very Polish Zaluski is actually "Smith" and its a more common name than you might think...??

I cant argue with those tips either. But I also heard a rumour that Na Fianna have asked to play all Friday night fixtures, due to their reigning BnF and key defender Dan Bryant being unable to play Sundays due to fears of getting the red nut in direct contact of the sun?

if you watch dan bryant closely during a game played at high temperatures you may also notice that when he perspires he actually sweats milk from his pores.

nearly tipped you last week, did say i thought you might win.i think w.i and onkas are the teams to beat for the 2 cups and i generally wont tip against them.you will probably find i tip you against mitcham, irish aust and na fianna.
just to stir the pot a little as well i am going to mention that as of next week you will find that onkaparinga will have another ex-titan playing for them in Nick "chachi" Tattoli a super talented mid field come forward player capable of winning games of his own boot.i have seen him running round in my gaza rec footy comp and he looks in real good nick.(no pun intended)
im sure this will infuriate flinders after the della saga.see you on the weekend boys and trent

Wouldn't be surprised if he gets approval.

I believe there may be an appeal submitted shortly to the national board and depending on that result there is talk of Della possibly getting other areas involved, but cant say too much at this stage.

In regards to the national appeal process I wouldn't think the state vice president would have anywhere near the influence he does in the state committee process. Lets hope there is an unbiased adjudication without the influence of personal vendettas against any individuals and some type of substantive evidence to back up thier "allegations"

will the referees cousre be run by the great gerrard roe or is the association flying someone else in to press play on the dvd???
is it true that clubs are penalised a competition point per half season and fined if they dont have a member of their club who is a qualified ref???
does anyone know the answers to these questions?

Flinders defeated Onkas by 5 points, a fair result in my opinion. A few late withdrawals prior to the game decimated our forward line and it showed with our inability to convert our dominance. Came form behind again. We haven't been up at half time yet! X Factor McSorley with the winning under with minutes to spare....

The flinders train begun to gather steam.....

yep toot toot the flinders train.down by a point with a minute to go,it appeared that they may have blown a golden oppurtunity.enter the x man.toddy "wolverine"mcsorely with a cracker and ant costalas getting on the end of the ensuing kickout to seal a good 5 point win."irish" joe caddell was also outstanding for f,on.whilst gabe phillips was best for onkas.despite the 38 degree heat the game was played with good intensity, pressure and passion whilst still being a good, clean, fair game.respect was shown to team mates, opponents and referee by all players on the field.
off the field more than one person is putting themselves and their club at risk.you do NOT have to be a playing participant to recieve a yellow or red card and the on going abuse throughout a game and continued abuse after the final whistle is totally unacceptable.i am certainly not saying that it has just happened in this game, unfortunately it happens in nearly ALL mens games.the amusing thing to me is that we have only 3 regular mens referees yet quite a few experts who most of the times dispute decisions despite at times being 75m away.i heard a ref on friday night called a disgrace.as well as phrases like "theres 2 teams", "theres 2 sets of rules". if a decision is made good or bad i will always allow a brief interaction and discussion with the players involved. As for the peanuts on the side line.Shut up and set an example to your players about sportsmanship and winning with integrity.with the increased intensity and pressure of finals about a month away a couple of blokes need to learn that gaelic football is about football.outbursts fron non playing personell particularly on the field may cost your club a cup.
sorry, had to get that of my chest.im guessing we are gonna have 25-50 new refs at the ref course at the end of this month any way and its gonna be an exciting time in whistle land to see others experience the joy of doing a good job and being abused or conversly having a shocker and still being abused.finally on referee mis-treatment i have been informed the player who made unneccessary contact with a ref last week has been given a 12 week ban.
in the other game.it was st.brendans comfortably over a under manned mitcham.the score board was not operating so i am unsure of the actual result but i am told it was st.brendans by more than 10 points.

If you were up by 10 against Flinders with 5 mins to go you still wouldnt be super confident of getting the win...O'Neills have had some barnstorming finishes already this year. Onka's seem too reliant on scoring unders rather then getting the easy points by taking the simple overs. Cant always do that against the good teams and it came back to bite them.

Think the score in the Taints / Mitcham game was 6.14 - 1.3. Mitcham i think were pretty depleted so perhaps not a true indication of where either team is at. Taints have Na Fianna, WI and Onkas to finish the year - a perfect way to lead into the Hannigan cup..!!

This weekends tips.....(ill get in first)
I.A v F,ON....Flinders by 10-15. Yes the F,ON train is gaining momentum. 3 Mcsorelys all playing roles,a couple of Neesons in the mix as well as the steadying influence of the "Chocolate Locomotive" Dale Agius giving good drive from defence.Flinders will be too strong for an Irish Aust team that still has a deep yawning chasm of difference between their best and worst football.
Onkas v Mitcham...Both teams were well below full strength this week and their results suggested as much. Mitcham have gone off the boil a touch after a fantastic result in round 1. "Skipper"Carey, Andrew "Soxy" Westergreen and Dale "I left my boots at the hotel the day i was meant to play in the Australasian final" Ostreicher would have to have blinders to cause a boil over. Mitcham will find it tough to match it with the likes of Onkas' stars Gabe "fab" Phillips, Sammy "Chewbacca" Janetski and Wade "sexy" Saunders as well as the returning Aysh "solid" Symper and Michael "S.B" Stevenson....Onkas 15+
MATCH OF THE ROUND
ST.BRENDANS v NA FIANNA....The Irish warriors form line of draw,1 point loss and draw suggests that in close games the Finns know how to draw them.Where as the Saints have won two games by more than ten points and lost one by around that margin. On SUNDAY @ 3.45 the heat and player attendance are sure to play a big part in this game. Na Fianna need to win this game to be a chance of competing in the Farnham cup semis. Hopefully the Saints have a huge night on the gas on saturday night...Ill go with Na Fianna by 1-5 albeit slightly biast.

I agree with the first two selections.

Flinders will be too strong and should win by 5-10
Onkas will bounce back and should win by 10-15.
The grand final replay from last year will hopefully end the same way with the taints getting up by 5-10. As normal we will all have big Saturday nights and somehow just pull up ok for the game.
