As far as I know he was going.
He might have pulled out due to the airlines weight policy. Don't think he would be real keen on having to buy two tickets.

I'm with Rippa here. 4 teams sucks Anil Kumble and we need to get more in any way we can. I'm all for getting on board with Pinaroo and Border, Mid Murray, Renmark District, or whoever of them wants to jump on the bandwagon. The travel can be overcome? Work out a sponsorship deal with some bus companies for the new Eastern Superleague and Bob's your Uncle, you've got a day of cricket and a bus trip with your mates to look forward to.

Or, as Rip says, split it into conferences to minimise travel and have playoffs between them.

Or, make into 3 massive divisions with promotion/relegation in place. If everyone is so stressed about the travel, split it into zones within those divisions, so that the bottom ranked from each zone gets relegated with the top team from the zone below coming up.

I'll wait for everyone to shoot this down in various ways, but as I've said before an A grade comp with 4 teams in it is a bit of a joke. We need at least 6, and even more would be better.

Sounds like that plan should be mooted at the weekend's meeting.
Actually, I'd love to go but it is Mrs DW's b'day, so I don't think a leave pass will be occurring.

So is my suggestion underway for 2010/11 after the meeting today? Would be gold I reckon. A fair dinkum competition at both ends of the ladder.

By the way, the T20 yesterday was a winner. Good crowd and good atmosphere, oval in beautiful nick, music going between wickets, overs etc. Overall, a very good day. Making it worth points and having a four days of it during the year is a good move if the early signs are anything to go by. As long as we don't over do it, and as long as we maintain two day cricket (this stuff should be replacing some of the one dayers, and in fact the number of two dayers should be upped) it should be a winner for years to come, and should get some young kids around the place interested in all forms of the game.

I agree NS. Cricket was the winner yesterday. :D
And well done to the young Loxton side who notched up their first win for a while. I had a ball watching some entertaining cricket and smashing the odd can.

T20 was a great day on Saturday. As a spectator, I thoroughly enjoyed it (from what I can ramamber anyway). Music cranking in between overs etc added to the atmospehere and it was really good to watch. To be honest, I'd prefer to watch that every week, rather than a 2 day game. I know the purists will cringe at that comment, but as a spectator who enjoys taking a bag of goon down to the cricket each home game and getting on the gas, it was a really enjoyable day and there should be a lot more of it.

Yeah, Dunno about a lot more BC.
Four T20 games has the balance about right I think. I think most of the blokes like a bit more of an oppurtunity whether it is with the bat or ball.
