How Cockley went over b4 Nathan Rimmington is astounding

The only reason they must of gone Burt Cockley is ummmm he is from NSW...

Is there any other reason really?? AS much as i hate Shaun Tait and his attitude to his cricket, if he is playng right now, surely he is ahead of Burt Cockley?? Or Stuart Clark, or the young fella from QLD Walter, who (yes only just debuted) but already has more ODD wickets then Cockley i believe!!!

i would have been happy to see Walter get picked for the last couple, even if it was just for the experience of net bowling with the Aussies

Itsa bout time ODIS are played less frequently
Limit them to when countries are actually touring a country in a Test Series
For example we had 7 games after the ashes
So it was a tour of tests ODIS and 20/20
Thats fine
But for teams to go to another country to play 7 games of only ODIs is absurd
The only time any country should go to play ODIS[without a test match itinery] is in world cups and champions cups

Going to India just seems to me to be driven by the allmighty $$$$$$
Its been highlighted perhaps some Aussie players are tired
Its been highlighted by a spate of injuries

The injuries are one thing and debateable
But the overiding factor is 2 many series in 2 short a time for the players who are required to play in all the games

The players are the entertainers, the money spinners for the cricket boards
They need to be looked after instead of frolicking around the world on working holidays for the boards

okay mal - and everybody else- i will explain this to you again.

the reason australia are playing one day matches in india now is becaus ewhen we toured there for the tests in around october 2008 we didnt play any one day matches on that tour because we had to get back to our summer to play against south africa and then head over there to south africa to play teh 2nd half of that series, so these one day matches are no more money driven than any other it is a catch up from a previously 'missed' one day series which qwouldve coincided with test matches.

the reason it is 7 matches is becuase every team that had to come here used to have to play a minimum of 8 matches during the tri-series so this is equitable payback for that

from the list of players that have been injured recently:

ferguson doesnt play in all forms, not an overuse injury anyway
bracken doesnt play the test matches or all the t20s
lee has hardly played anything recently
hopes doesnt play the test matches
henriques shouldnt have played in any of them
paine, haddin - injuries do to their error
clarke - back is always vulnerable - he is probably better off playing all the time as apparantly the flight was what made his injury as bad
siddle is probably a little to do with the amount he has bowled recently but also because its teh first time in his life he has had this continual workload

if you look at the players who have probably playe dteh most days cricket in this period they are ponting hussey and johnson - all of them are still on tour and although johnson has a bit of a niggle that is expected from fast bowlers.

so maybe the problem isnt the amount of cricket these players are playing its how they are being treated/ managing their bodies when they raent playing that is more the issue.

another question would be when did errol allcott leave teh australian team and what has teh injury record been like since he left - maybe that is also a contributing factor

Cockley is a talent. Good to see the selectors go for someone who could go above and beyond rather than the same old experienced types.

Congrats to Shaun Marsh on his maiden century at ODI level.

2/250 off 41. Should get to 340 here.

3/270 off 42.5. Marsh out for 112 off 112. Good knock.

Hopefully White and Hussey/Voges can continue the total well past 320.

Great hitting by white it was.
Cracking catch by the Man to get rid of White on the lastball of the innings.

*Edit. Marshs maiden ton indeed *
I did hear in the commentary that him and his father are the first father/son combo to score ODI tons for Australia.

Correct! Nice stat.

Well done Sean, knew you had it in you! Watto keeps in delivering the goods.

350 might not be enough though with this pitch and their batting line-up, we need early wickets.

Not just their batting line up, but i was more thinking our Bowling lineup.

0/16 off 3 overs.

For australia to win, Hauritz needs 3 fa IMO

We give away far too many extras. Been said so many times and yet we keep doing it. Regularly seems to be in the realm of 20-30 runs.
