Selections 31 oct / 1 nov

Greek League

PAOK v Xanthi u2.5 goals 1.53 1-0 :D

Both teams especially the away team are very good for unders, this is a derby in Greece and has always been a very low scoring fixture. The amazing stat here is that of the last 16 times these 2 teams have played each other in all competitions 15/16 have been u2.5 with the only one that was over was last time they played where PAOK got at 90th minute penalty. The PAOK winning 1-0 result is definitely the most likely because both of these team are very good at wasting time and shutting up shop when they have a lead or a desired result. Carlso with be having a large bet on unders in this game with a correct score bet of 0-0 0-1 and 1-0 being my best result.

Larissa v Aris u2.5 goals 1.51 2-2 (this is frustrating as the 2-2 result has held for an hour)

Again here both teams are very good for unders with solid defences and were very profitable to Carlso last season. This is also a northern derby and since both teams have been in the top league in greece (2006) all fixtures have gone under 2.5 goals. Aris so far this season have been awesome for unders in the league averaging 1.75 goals per game so far and larissa are slightly higher (2.375) due to some goal rushes against teams that are struggling this year. I expect this to be a very tight game and unders looks a safe bet.

Multi Booster - Panathinaikos v Panionios - Panathinaikos to win 1.30 :)

I cannot see the home team losing here with Panathinaikos winning the last 5 times these 2 teams have played. They are having no problems banging in the goals so far this season and the away team are a middle to bottom of the table team who struggle to get consistent results. Panathinaikos are going to be very strong challengers for the title in Greece this year and if they want to challenge this is a must win game.

Portuguese League

Olhanese v Rio Ave u2.5 goals 1.60 0-1 :)

Both teams have extremely good stats this season averaging 1.75 goals per game so far. Both are extremely defensive and I expect if there is a score that will be the winner. Olhanese were promoted from the second division last year and they seem to be set up being cautious and hold for draws to try to stay up where as Rio Ave are a token middle table team who struggle to score goals but get enough draws to maintan their spot in the top league in Portugal. 0-0 in this game will be my best result but a decent back of unders at 1.60 will also be a play.

Tonight Champions League

Standard v Olympiacos - Back 0-0 at 10.5, save 0-1 at 11, small winner 1-1 at 7.20.

Greek teams are very very good at getting a draw when they need one - If Olympiacos can hold a 0-0 away at Standard this will lock them in for 2nd place in their group which would be a great result considering how they have struggled in the past to make it to the quarter finals of the Champions League. We also need to back 0-1 to Oly to get our money back because if 0-1 happened they would be sitting for sure and we also need to have a small win on 1-1 because this suits Oly fine as well.

So if we had 100 dollars to invest we back 0-0 for 60 at 10.5 (return 630), back 0-1 for 15 at 11 (return 165), and back 1-1 for 25 at 7.2 (return 180).

Oh dear.... was a good write up though... Pity you forgot that Standard were at home and desperate to stay alive... Greek sides do not travel... need to factor that in next time. You gotta be a soccer person to understand soccer Davey. You need to understand the leagues, the championships and the cups... it's not just about the game on "paper".

To be honest Dutchy... this is a case of someone just constantly trying to act like they understand the sport. DC and I have discussed football at length... and for someone so new to following the sport he keeps creating these great spiels about leagues he clearly doesnt understand. You can be assured I dont just argue football with DC after the event....

I dont post re this sport (a sport I follow closely) because you've seriously got nothing to gain from posting here... unless you seek purely an ego stroke and recognition. Just back your side... let people know who you've backed so we all can follow and cheer... but seriously all this B.S about laying off and centrebet and betfair and wa wa wa... its tiresome and people are jack of it. The average person just wants to have a gamble on tab sportsbet... they want to at least know the side they are backing.. in a league they can either watch or at least know a little about. I know the CL is big... but all these other Romanian, Greek and Ukraine leagues are of interest to no-one and he is seriously on a hiding to nothing.

and ps.. this is the same bloke that told me at Oakbank Corey Brown cant ride... jockey premiership in NSW last year and a Melbourne cup.... not bad for a bloke thats no good... but back to football....

I have spent 15 years swimming. Yet someone who has only 1 year experience knocks me out of the team.....

As far as I am concerned, you don't need to spend countless years to say "I KNOW MORE" You just need to learn the right stuff.

Na.. thats not quite right in my opinion. Youve gotta understand the football culture of the different leagues. Youve got to understand their history and their rivalries. You've got to understand what means most to the different sides from different countries. It takes time... but I do agree.. you definitely do need to know the right stuff and that takes time when you are new to the sport.

Ah mate.. football is bloody hard to bet on. I have a couple of small bets every week and a multi and there is always a "unlucky" story in there somewhere. I think a lot of the Euro leagues are too hard (and with Juve, Fiorentina and Lazio throwing their games a couple of seasons ago it made it even harder...).

You never know which starting 11 will line up... you often dont know what importance has been placed on a midweek game in Europe v a league game.. sometimes in some of the eastern Euro countries it'll be snowing.. or a flooded pitch... someone like Rafa has different wants and needs for his Yank owners in comparison to Jose Mourinho at Inter....

Sometimes as a scouser I bet with my heart and not my head as well!

I just think it would be far more useful should the "tips" actually be on something the "common folk" actually can watch and follow with interest. Very very few people are interested in leagues they cant even watch and teams they have not heard of.

In the UK football has changed. More games are scoring higher. So under 1.5 isnt as much as a certainty as it used to be. There are some sides you can rely on... Twente, Celtic, Rangers, Mancs, Chelski, Lyon etc...

I'll let you know my multi Sat arvo for sure... but certainly dont anyone else get on!!

Dutchy was a poor result all around and your bet was very unlucky to lose 88' min 2-0 (when 1-0 is perfect for them) - Greek league is stronger than Belgium league and imo Olympiacos defend better than any team anywhere. The key with my bets were Olympiacos held Arsenal at home 0-0 for 75 mins with very solid defending when they went out looking for a draw and Olympiacos got a late winner in the home leg of this fixture (after playing a steady game for 82 mins).

Even though as jolie pointed out standard were desparate to survive I would have thought Olympiacos had enough defensive power to get the result they needed.
