Exactly, knowing the SACA there will be wild celebrations after this game and plenty of pats on the back for what has happened in the second innings. Your right though they should have done it in the first innings and will walk away with zero points.

Bit harsh CA, agreed the 1st innings wasnt that flash but 292 was about half decent, the Vics have a very strong batting lineup that will score over 500 per 1st innings more often than not this year, we have an inexperienced attack. As long as we dont have a huge collapse in the next hour, and I doubt that as it is starting to rain, I think the Redbacks should give themselves a pat on the back.

Over the last few seasons, getting knocked over cheaply, having a huge score then posted against them, they continually would fold in the 2nd dig to lose by an innings or plenty of runs without showing any fight or guts. They have done that in this innings and deserve some credit for the fighting spirit

Good post Locky. Have to give credit where it's due and the performance is a huge improvement on previous efforts. Don't forget we are playing against the dominant team in domestic cricket and to bat out a draw as they are likely to do has been a step in the right direction.

See what your saying, the first innings was dissapointing on a good wicket. I went in on Saturday and was really dissapointed with the attack. No doubt Victoria are a good team but we really can't afford to have days like Friday.

I agree but we can't expect to instantly become a strong consistent side like the Vics are. It's a graduall process and in time this young group will develop into a very strong unit. Efforts like today will give the group the confidence knowing they can match it with the best if they work hard enough.

Cheers CA, with a youngish group may happens from time to time, I am sure they will take alot out of this 2nd innings into future games

Currently 3/335

Harris 165* (be nice to see him get 200 but will run out of time)

Cosgrove 5*

Victoria just bought their 9th bowler into the attack

Over 125.4: Quiney to Harris, no run, cut to point, maybe they should bat left handed to put some life back into the match

Great fightback by the Redbacks, reckon the Vics may well be a tad pissed off in not getting outright points

MAL just had a look through, gotta give it to you. MAL was always a fan of the one Doc Harris! Even before Matty Elliot was playing, you were calling for his inclusion!

Cant be happy with this performance from SA, the boys should have made 500 + in the first innings and put the Vics under pressure, however we couldnt do it! Making runs in the second dig (due mainly to Doc Harris and a nightwatchman) was good but i didnt see our batsman make runs, Smith got a start, Klinger failed, Cosgrove was not out, Cooper, O Brien and Christian only batted the once. For mine a poor game by SA.

Also, do the redbacks have a lesser chance of making the final due to the fact SA is such a batting paradise and there are fewer results at Adelaide Oval, where we play 5 games in the year??? Unlike, say the Gabba, which produces results 9/10?? Am i reading too much into that?

I ask, the one Les Burdett, to create a pitch that will get a result

Actually, I think it should be roads when playing Victoria and NSW - makes it more of a chance to concede just the two points instead of six. ;)

Not such a bad effort by the Redbacks, as noted, too much experience in the Victorian side to fully challenge them. The improvement (SO FAR) this year is we did not collapse and hand the game over to them.

Interesting point by Cover King
Gabba tracks are usually bowler friendly
Adelaide Oval tracks usually bowler friendly
QL there4 in theory play in games that produce 6 points
Play in enough bowler friendly games and there will be more 6 point opportunities

Cover King
This pitch was a bit of a road
However Les has produced livelier decks for SA the last few years than the norm

Another reason for both sides making lotsa runs was the lack of quality attacks from both teams

S.A. were NEVER going to get points from this match even if they made 550 in the 1st dig. Vic would have still passed that score and would have been a draw OR declared behind and then S.A. would have set them some GIFT of a run chase as they have done in recent years and lost outright.

To whoever it was who suggested that Harris was MOM. Get off the grass!
Hodges 195 set the game up for a team to WIN which is more valuable than an innings that DRAWS a game.

A SPECIAL mention must go to the SACA official today patrolling the members section of the Bradman stand today. With a grand total of 11 members sitting in the whole of the top deck on a 37.8 c day, the saca official did a marvellous job in maintaining the peace when he promptly ejected 2 young school lads whose only crime was obviously NOT being members.
Fair enough some might say BUT
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFOR FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKS SAKE ! Get a life u moron.
With the S Shield struggling to attract 200 spectators a day, young lads who made an effort to come along were made to feel NOT WELCOME by some over zealous official despite causing no problems to anyone.
