Congrats to India for formulating ways to beat even the greatest Australian teams on thier own decks in my lifetime
= Good record against Australia at home
= Can never ever be the number 1 team in the world in dynastical terminology by doctoring home tracks, and struggle in away games

Classic example is DHONI who is being compared with GilCHRIST

This is purely DHONI v AU games I have seen
In India he is The DOhNi
When there is insufficient pace and bounce in the comfort of his own country he is an absolute
dynamo, a clever matchwinning star batsman
In Australia he is The Dohnievermakeruns
The bounce and pace in Australia found him out on the last tour
Until Dhoni makes sizable contributions against AU in Australia I wont be convinced

As for the mass debate on GilCHRIST or Dhoni
In India The DOhNi easily
Anywhere else GilCHRIST

Footnote
Im not havingago at The DOhNi personally, in fact Im enthralled by his batting
He has several gears and adjusts to any situation [at home v AU]
He is also a reason why I would want to watch 50 over cricket

but mal didnt india win the tri-series against australia in australia a couple of years ago?
i think i would choose dhoni for 1 reason, he seems to go on with his innings more than gilly did - giolliy would often make a quick 30 then get out, dhoni seems to convert his starts better plus he has teh pressure of captaining the side as well

but Mayz didnt india get beaten just about every other time they toured Australia
As I said the DOhNi has to prove himself in Australia b4 he earns my full respect
From memory he was a distinct failure last time when he could not handle the bouncy wickets
Lets see how good he is facing Siddle and MJ when the ball bounces above ankle height

in Australia 10 347 88* 69.40 0 - - - - 19 2

average of 69 in australia isnt too shaby

Yes an average of 69.

Whats the strike rate though?

Also dont think he has played anywhere near his potential in Australia compared to in India.

For mine, Gilchrist without a doubt. With gilly opening the innings, his starts have set up so many more wins by scarring the opposition mentally from all his boundaries. No one is close to Gilchrist. Dhoni, if with the record he has, could do that opening the batting then my opinion may change

Dhoni is better - only because he took one wicket. ;) :P

Another run out, thanks to Hauritz basically giving the ball to the bowler to run out Manou who was backing up.

Probably another loss with 8/243 after 47.4

AU all out 250
Another ten pin bowling alley
Fair dinkum even Fred Flinstone would struggle to get the ball bail height
Typical Indian pitch
The spinners are the only guys who get the ball to bounce bail height
Whatta farce
Most quicks in the last 5 overs bowl a slower ball for variation
The Indians surprise ball was the faster ball

Still theyve worked out ways to beat AU in thier own country, well done to the curators

Just a pity when the Indians come over to AU that we give them a few flat pitches
It would be nice if our curators all produced Gabba like pitches

No doubt Dhoni will beat us again over there

India is prone for low flat wickets Mal, we should be happy that thay gave us a bouncy fast wicket for game two and we still lost, even tonight with the new ball it swung around and moved off the seam making it tough for the first 10. Early wicket is the key with no Gambiher we are a chance, big Dougie to be the match winner.

I dont mind blooding young future stars, but Moses looks out of his depth at this level. I dont think he has done enough at state level to be gifted an ODI cap for his country. Made our batting very fragile with Moses at 6 tonight, surely a A.McDonald, D.Hussey, M.North or D.Christian would be a better choice for a all rounders position. McKay is also lucky to be taking Lee's spot as he is a medium pacer who does nothing with the ball, surely Geeves, Rimmington or Stuey Clark should of been picked.

It is comical that Clark isn't playing.

McKays recent form in India in the 20/20 woulda swayed the selectors in his favour. He bowls stump to stump and moves it btoh ways. I was happy for that selection.

Cadet, you bag the decision to have Moises at number 6, and u bring up having Christian? How can u say him to bat at number 6 when he bats at number 8 (and behind Manou) for South Australia. There is no chance of that happening.

Its all about getting ready for the next world cup. Its a process this series for the future success at the World Cup.

My XI for the next World Cup:

1. Hughes/Marsh (give both a shot, and whoever performs better, get them in)
2. Watson
3. Ponting
4. Hussey
5. Clarke
6. Haddin (not sold yet on him opening, actually prefer Paine)
7. Hopes
8. Johnson (unfortunately)
9. Siddle

Then 2 of Bracken (fitness?), Lee (fitness?), Hilf (not a ODI bowler), Cuttin/Walter/Laughlin.

Not sure about Ferg, I'd have him in and his chances increase if Haddin opens. White in the mix too.

Geez....what the heck has happened to Johnson? He has been NOWHERE since the conclusion of the South African test series. It's extremely concerning.

Meanwhile I'm starting to change my opinion on Bollinger. Hits good areas and gets a bit of bounce.

Johnson's alright (looked great in South Africa earlier in the year) but I think he's more a complimentary fast bowler and still have no idea how some got sucked into thinking he could be an all-rounder, although I remember the same stuff said about Lee too when he was in his prime.

No, he's not alright. That's the point. Seen plenty of his bowling in the past few years and right now he is in no man's land.

I was talking overall and not just these last few months where he's obviously been in a funk.

Heh, yeah fair enough. Do tend to agree with your comment about where he fits, or perhaps where he is most comfortable, in the pecking order. While the ball was swinging in South Africa and his confidence was up, he seemed comfortable leading the side; perhaps starting a high stakes, landmark series like the Ashes as the lead bowler got to him.

Who knows?
