Mitch Thorp delisted from Hawthorn with a year to run on the contract.

Been in the system for 3 years, after being a number 6 pick in the draft. the kid can obviously play but been unlucky with injuries.

Absolute monty to be picked up in the draft or preseason draft. Wouldnt mind seeing him go to Richmond or Adelaide, to add some depth to their squad and hope he can stay injury free...

What do people think of Maguire's chances of playing AFL again? Nathan Brown was never the same player after his leg injury, is Maguire destined to suffer the same fate and will another club take a punt on him?

Not really sure to be honest, but I would at least take a punt. 25 yers old, key defender. Worth a late pick in the draft perhaps.

I think the interesting one is Mitch Thorp from Hawthorne being delisted. I would have thought with Roughead out for a while he may have been rather useful in partnering Franklin up forward.

Just a sidepoint here. Matt Maguire finishes on 99 games, unless the Saints re-draft him. He's been going out with a girl Sophie for a fair while now. Sophie happens to have a brother Luke Ball, who's a pretty fair player, albeit with injuries restricting him recently. Sophie also happens to have her mum's brother being Peter Russo, with nearly 200 senior games and a couple of premierships. Sophie also happens to be related to the Hawthorn Kennedys - John, Josh etc

So, I guess I'm saying that if they stay together and have a couple of sons and the family footy gene kicks in yet again, the Saints are one game short of claiming any father-son access. IF if if if I know, but still........

I hope we redraft " The Goose" not only because he is a good player, but also because he is a champion bloke.

Would give him a go again myself.

Would love to see Power or the Dees give him another shot.

I reckon the Dees would generally be interested. A key experianced defender, perhaps for them he may be worth the punt.

So there are a few decent players heading into the draft now, does anybody have a list of all the experianced players nominating for this?

COLLINGWOOD defender Shannon Cox has retired.

The 23-year-old made the decision after realising during the off-season that he no longer had the passion to play football at the highest level.

Originally drafted from WAFL club South Fremantle in the 2005 NAB AFL Rookie Draft, Cox was elevated to the senior list at the end of 2006 and made his debut in round three the following season against Richmond.

He played 25 games in three seasons for the Magpies, including two finals and will be formally delisted by Friday's 2pm list lodgement deadline.

He played 11 of the first 13 games this season but did not return to senior football after the round 13 win over Fremantle.

Cox, who has battled weight and fitness problems during his time at AFL level, did return to training when the Pies started their pre-season campaign on Monday but later informed the club of his decision.

Interestingly, he was the final member of the Collingwood playing squad to leave Gosch’s Paddock on the first day of training. As his teammates returned to the changerooms, he remained on the field and endured some extra running - under the eye of several coaches.

Collingwood chief of football Geoff Walsh admitted the decision came as a surprise to the club but said he understood if he had lost the motivation to play AFL.

"Shannon returned from the post-season break and decided that he no longer had the desire and hunger to commit to the demands of AFL football,” Walsh said.

"We fully expected Shannon to be part of our 2010 list however we respect his decision to retire and wish him well."

Collingwood now has selections 30, 62, 78 and 94 at the NAB AFL Draft, however that may change when clubs lodge their final lists with the AFL on Friday, November 13.
