This magnificient picture has reminded me of my younger days. When I was still at uni, my supervisor who was a famous microbiologist used to say " microbiology is the science of shit, the whole world is covered in shit, it is just a bit thicker in some places than others"

Must admit we have some fairly decent loo's here with a cleaner (don't know the correct job title) on duty who makes sure they're kept clean etc. If I walk into any public toilets and they look dirty then I leave and go somewhere else.

Best loo's I ever used were in the government owned tourist restaurant in Jerash in Jordan. You went to the entrance and a chap in a smart suit directed women to the left and men to the right to seperate areas with normal western style toilets and cubicles. When I went to wash my hands at the basins I noticed there were no towels/dryers. The chap appeared at my side with a box of paper towels and handed me three with a flourish to dry my hands and then put them in the bin for me so I didn't have to touch it. He went back to his post at the door and when I left he very gently grabbed my hands and sprayed my wrists with the most gorgeous perfume...the men get a spray of aftershave. A slightly startling but not unpleasant experience
