Halloween - Knock Knock

Postby A Mum » Sat Oct 31, 2009 4:18 pm

Trick or Treat :D

It's too early just yet..

But will be interested to hear how many 'knockers' everyone gets tonight.

I've just done up 16 bags of lollies - So no more than 16 kids allowed to knock on my door !
I know they travel in packs too.

O:)

(I know it's an American tradition etc, etc - but I do love seeing the little kids faces when you give them something)

I think my 60 metres of steep driveway will inhibit the modern kid..
I hope so, as they'll be disappointed - I don't celebrate North American holidays, and have nothing on hand but some Lindt 85% cocoa chocolate.
I think my Canadian neighbours on one side may be planning a party, by the decorations on their letter box..

I'm armed and ready, they ring the front doorbell the missus takes her time to get there, i head out the back door, down the side of the house with the old penny bunger (few on here might remember them), have it lit as i get to the corner of the house and roll it in gently and boooomb, they crap themselves and run off

No - It's your house, you have a right not to O:)
Last year I forgot to get lollies etc - so I didn't answer the door.

My kids are hoping no one comes so they can eat the lollies this year

Id really love to be able to offer something up to the little tackers, but unfortunately they will be greeted by a "Dont knock - Baby sleeping" sign and a Bull Mastiff around the back ... Trying to think of a way I can still give them some goodies without waking the bubs, any suggestions?

Probably best not stand in the street offering them lollies, I'd suggest.

Well I gave it a crack ... Thankfully as I got home from the shop a group of about 15 kids walked past, so they took care of most of my supply of lollies.

Stood outside for another half an hour without a child in sight so eventually gave in to the mosquito's, comfortable that I'd performed my neighbourly duty! :D

I used to have a basket of dfunsize choc bars and let them pick something each at the door when we had some kids living in the area but they've long gone now and I can't think of anyone for a couple of streets with kids.

Now we get the little ferals from the local council estate (sin city) and they loosen the wheelnuts on cars or put fireworks in bins etc regardless of whether you give them anything so they can get stuffed.

Don't usually answer the door after dark unless I'm expecting viaitors anyway cos it's either drunk idiots looking for the bingers in the flat downstairs, Jehova's or groups of Poles trying to pressure people into giving them money
