I must agree with you on everything you have said apart from that for me he should have left at the end of 07 .
eaglehaslanded wrote:Only onward and upwards for the Eagles from Oval Avenue. Whilst Ronnie was good for many years and probably should have more premierships to show from his great work it was the correct time for him to move on. There wasn't much more he could have offered the current playing group and he was well renowned for having his favourites and persevering with them at all costs and that in turn caused a lot of angst amongst others in the playing group ultimately meaning that many talented footballers have chosen to move on from Oval Ave. Micky Godden seems to be the perfect fit for the job and going by his first interview on the club website he is set to bring in an exciting game plan with him combined with some good recruiting we could be around the mark for a possible premiership within the next few years.

2006 was the deal... went back on his word, lost player confidence in him

Never a Ronnie fan, but never 'bagged' him either - was a very successful indentfier of young talent & I wish him all the best at South - err, he's going to need it with their history of sacking coaches.

an attacking, fast play on , take them on, gamestyle looks likely......

on that basis i think we will be a top 4 team or better next year........

This is what I'm excited about with a new coach. Hoping for not all out attack, but a little bit more flair than what we often showed under the Fuller game plan.

Listening to the "GOD" interview he mentioned the Eagles defensive action coupled with his new exciting game plan .

Looks good so far

Hopefully. We have had the discipline and toughness, other sides have had the flair over the last few years. Whilst everyone talks about the Port and Centrals eras and their toughness at the ball etc, the true reason for the success is their ability to combine this with the flair and run IMO. And it takes a lot of hard work to be able to do both.

Going on the recruits we have already signed and the names of others we are still talking to I would say we're in for a fairly good year. I think top 3 at minimum and at our best we could play off in the Grand Final.

How? It's very debatable that your ins don't match your outs and that takes into consideration your rumoured ins and outs.....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Well at this stage will the Bays be able to field a team next year. It would be great to see some Ins for a change

Why bother signing up heaps of recruits now when the best wont be available until after the draft. Glenelg will have some very handy signings, because they waited, wereas the Eagles have spent nearly all of their recruiting $$$ before the end of November.

Much like North a couple of years ago who had players signed a week after their Grand Final loss to Central, then at the draft they were surprisingly hit by a couple of losses to key forwards and by then all the good forwards had been sounded out by other clubs, IMHO much better plan to wait til after draft to make all key signings.

Actually we (some of "GODS" army) were saying we thought signings would be announced after the draft.I think clubs that have announced young vfl recruits run the risk of losing out .And we as a club went through that with Ron Fuller .
Eagles have announced recruits who should not be drafted by AFL Clubs.
Welsh has retired from AFL so he wont get redrafted.
Parry I don't think is on the AFL's radar.
Day and Seb Guilhaus may not have even been on Glenlegs radar(I dont know for sure).
Thats our four recruits so far .And just think WWT are still looking for a midfileder or two glenelg have any more spare players.
Of course I haven't listed the guys trying out .

And to think under Fullers reign we couldn't get players(like Parry who have played state footy) to the club .
New era new ideas = Eagles to go up the ladder in 1 to 2 years .

So you have a league standard midfielder for sale ?I thought u might be getting a bit thin for players ;)

Dont forget we have lost a few players
Kenny Mac
Peter Fiacchi
Zac heir
Mark Passador
off the top of my head along with Shirley going to an ACT club .
So thats 5 senior players and we have recruited 4 not certain how that adds up to 80 senior players .

So if Day and Gulhuas get drafted Eagles would get payment from their afl club .
And the bays would miss out IIRC. ;)
