Tommy you bloody legend.

A bloke who went from being a Reserves player at Norwood to a dual premiership player for the best team in the land. Plenty of people might remember Tom as a bloke who was more than lucky to get an AA gig last year, but I'll remember him as a top defender who with Milburn and Scarlett held together a defence that was always under siege when our gun midfield still had L Plates on.

TOMMY HARLEY I SALUTE YOU. I'm so glad he pulled the pin and didn't take the selfish option of playing on just to get to 200 games.

Two Premierships as captain, not bad not bad at all.
He really has had a great career, yes I said great, did not quite get to 200 games, but had a good strike rate with premierships. Good luck to him and well done.

Who is your tip for Geelong's new captain REB?

Scarlett? Ling? Maybe even Selwood?

That's a good call REB.

Sound's like he was always going to in his own mind it was just that Thompson and others were willing to let him chalk up the 200 as Sheedy did with Thompson himself.

I reckon Ling, then Selwood. Selwood will get the job eventually but I don't think they'll give it to him as early as next year. Selwood will get VC and he'll be groomed for the role.

Give it to Selwood now, let him enjoy 5 or 6 years in the role then in his late 20's he can spend time grooming his replacement before spending his last few years enjoying playing without the extra burden of the Captaincy.

Agree wholeheartedly Boon.
Why wait because given the style of game he plays, he could be finished at 27 or 28.

I think there are pros and cons for both sides of the argument and it will be interesting to see what the Geelong heirachy decide to do.

Nah, it's time for the Pink Pig. Ling has had experience of going through the tough times and Selwood hasn't had that experience yet. Unfortunately due to the nature of this comp the hard times will come and if it happened in 2011 or 2012 I'd prefer a more experienced player at the helm.

Ling a superstar? Probably not Pag but more often than not the bloke just keeps on getting the job done. I reckon he's only been beaten about three times in the last three seasons. Judd went well when we played Carlton, Cooney did OK against the Bullies (two weeks after that) and one night Dane Swan racked up a heap of touches. Not bad in three years.

Tim Walsh from Hawthorns rookie list has also been delisted. Former Port Magpie locally, so hopefully heads back there.

Carltopn my be interested in looking at Russel Robertson. Personally I reckon at most with the way his body is declining he can only give you 2 -3 years at most, and thats pushing it.

But it could well be an interesting move. Say Kruzer went forward and waite was fit, the 3 of them would actually be a handful, each person would provide something different. Just my opinion, but if Waite gets fit and ready they could well make the 8 next season.

You can add Bradshaw to that list. He has been treated very poorly. Hope he kicks 100 next year and Fevola proves to be a dud.
