Klanger !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Postby mal » Mon Oct 19, 2009 9:12 am

SA selectors made one of the most astonishing selections of all time in the SA V TA o/d game
They made Micheal Klinger 12th man

2008/2009
17 [37]
79[120[
59 [69]
15[29]
60[100]
133[128]
04[10]
03[11]
29[55]
70[111]

If my stats are correct thats 469 runs in 670 balls
That made in him about the 2nd highest scorer in the domestic Franger Cup comp 2008/2009

CAREER
67 matches
2137 runs
36-84 ave
6.1 strike rate
4 hundreds
15 fifties

Not bad career numbers for a o/d career
Averages 0f 40 and strike rates of about 75-80 are of the best domestic o/d players

So why was he relegated to 12th man ???????????????????????????????????????

Selector Jamie Cox said it was to give Smith a spot in the team
OK I can accept that
But drop someone else
With no Younis Khan and Fergy surely there are even more vacant spots this season

______________________________________________________________________________
DEC10/2008
Adelaide oval
TA bat first and make an amazing 5/310 with BIRT smashing 94 off 90 balls
SA in reply 4/313 KLINGER 133 of 128 balls
________________________________________________________________________________

133 of 128 balls vrs the same team at the same oval and 10 months later he is 12 th man
What the.....
KLINGERS last innings of the season was 70

Im baffled how KLINGER could be 12th man

Sheer stupidity...just when I was starting to think that the Redbacks might have finally gotten their act together, they do that.

Typical of SA cricket. These types of things force good players to want to leave.

i agree that this was a very poor decision, im not sure why they wouldnt play our best performing and steadiest one day player from last season.

i wouldnt have played smith as he is just starting to establish himself in the shield competition he should be left to develop his game at that level befroe trying to chop and change between a day and 4 day cricket.

i thought the decision to bat manou at 4 was almost as bad if not worse than leaving klinger out, also to have christian at 8 in one day cricket is a waste as he was teh only sa batsman who was able to hit the ball of the square for all of his innings

The excuse that they wanted to play Smith is a joke.... Smith and Klinger are in our best 11 and that spub Borgas can play with Sturt..... He must be doing something right to the right people to get a game!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe that they made this decision in the first place but to continue to try to defend it is just unfathomable. Sorrell and Manou need to admit they had a brain fade and move on. To keep attempting to justify their reasons is just embarrassing them even more. I can see the fools leaving him out of the next game just so they don't appear to have caved in and all this is doing is hurting SA cricket.

Im trying to think of a worst selection blunder in SA cricket
But I cant
This loss has the potential to derail this young up and coming team

KLINGER dropped unfathomable
ALSO
MANOU batting 4 in front of COOPER/BORGAS sends the wrong messge to these guys, thats an insult to both , as they both had good years last season in the Franger Cup

100% right there mal, and that is also te reason i think we dont see teh best of christian as a batter in teh sheffield shield. when he bats at 8 he takes teh mentality of a tailender, but when he first came to sa his batting performances were better as he was playing in a batsmans position in the order.

If it was for an indescrition we would have been told, no way the selectors would take the heat for a cock up if they didn't have to!!

How much influence does Manou have in where he bats? Wouldn't surprise me if it was his own decision to bat 4. The bloke is a peanut!

There was surely no discipline reason for dropping Klinger as shown when he was told on the ground and he had a fank discussion with Sorrell..... Your best batsmen bats at 4..... Klinger is our best bats and the stats show it, if you want you can bat him 3 and fat man 4..... and p*ss Borgas off sick of watching him HACK it up out there

Klinger is too good for SA cricket, and wouldn't blame him if he looked elsewhere next season (or even this season).

He gave us hope and we threw it back in his face, the decision is baffling and I hope he moves on just so SA cricket realise the magnitude of this decision to leave him out.

He is the only guy in the squad who actually looks like a professional athlete, and it shows in his performances. It's just an embarassment for SACA to leave him out. Move on Klinger!

It is an absolute joke and caused by 2 reasons

Coach never played cricket before and not knowing anything

The main reason I think is the captain wanting to play for Australia and now paine is ahead of him, so he needs to bat top 4 to have any chance. Player before team!!!!!!!!!

Bloody disgrace, and they wonder why our players seem to be fragile in the head, if they're worried about their position before every game its prob not the ideal preparation I wouldnt think. We're one game into what SHOULD be huge season for the Redbacks and our No. 1 batsman's confidence has been smashed to pieces already, do we have any hope of actually stringing together some consistency with these selectors picking our state team? I wouldnt have thought picking a team could be that difficult x_x x_x
