Gold Coast have axed import Michael Joiner and he has been replaced by Erron Maxey who is expected to make his debut against Cairns tonight on Fox.

Fantastic to see the 36ers have a new "naming rights" sponsor in Hood Sweeney Financial.

Excellent news. The Save Our Sixers ownership team seem to be kicking a few goals pretty early on.

Wish I did go, sounded like an awesome win, 90-89.

nbl.com.au wrote:A clutch basket to import John Gilchrist has earned the Adelaide 36ers a thrilling 90-89 victory over the Townsville Crocodiles at the Distinctive Homes Dome on Friday night.

After leading by 20 points late in a dominant second quarter, the Sixers fell in a hole, surrendering their advantage midway through the third.

It was anyone's game in the final term but Gilchrist came up with the final two buckets of the game - one with 25 seconds remaining and the second with 1.9 seconds left on the clock - to get his side across the line.

The match-winner smashed into the ring but luckily fell for the home side.

Peter Crawford got a shot away in the brief restart but his attempt fell short of the hoop.

Great win by the 36ers last night. Gilchrist hit a few clutch shots.

While I rate Townsville very highly and feel they are enormously underestimated, if anyone out there reckons they tipped them to roll Melbourne by 35 points in Melbourne, I simply won't believe them. Watched this one last night and the Crocs were SUPER impressive from all areas of the court. BIG, BIG watch on them for the season.

I agree no one would've picked the Crocs to flog the Tigers in Melbourne especially after putting so much into a close loss against the 36ers the night before.

What went wrong with the 36ers in this game, plenty by the scoreline.

The Wildcats got hot early and it was obvious the game was over halfway through the second quarter. The 36ers unfortunately had that deer in headlights look for the whole game. Our defence was terrible but at least the Sixers get the opportunity to bounce back quickly against the Tigers at home on Wednesday night.

Was interesting to see in the results that Perth played 12 players against the Sixers.... pretty rare and unheard of in this day and age of NBL where 8 or 9 players is the norm nowadays...

Adelaide simply never looked in the hunt. Disappointing for a group that is more than capable of shooting 85+ on a regular basis. This Wednesday will be a good test against Melbourne, who are struggling initially.

The Crocs (Townsville), though, are already building a good record. They are my early title fancies. Very hard to roll at home and very dangerous on the road.

Until New Zealand can start travelling better - with or without Kirk Penney - it's hard to make a title case for them, despite being bookies favorites. To be 7 up with 7 mins to go, and cough up a 16-0 run against the Hawks like that is a worrying sign.

I think the 36ers might've been a part of NBL history in that game against the Wildcats as Sam Harris who has been elevated from their training squad to the playing roster in place of the injured Paul Rogers became the tallest person to play in an NBL game at 7'3" surpassing former Wildcat Luc Longley.

Also tonight's 36ers/Tigers game is live on Fox.

Very disappointing result. To cough up a decent lead so meekly is a real worry. Full credit to the undermanned Tigers - away wins for any team are not that common this year in NBL - as they spanked Adelaide and exposed some huge cracks in their psyche.

This afternoon will be a game worth watching though - Townsville travel to New Zealand in what may be a grand final preview. Even without Penney for NZ, this promises to be an absolute corker.

Very disappointing by the Sixers I agree. At half-time I thought they had it wrapped up but Worthington and some truly inept basketball played by them in the second half conspired against them.

Good bounce back win by the 36ers last night. There's a rare Sunday night game on Fox tonight Tigers @ Wildcats from 7pm.
