smac, i always held your comments in high regard on here. No longer. If you think flares add to the event maybe the Dogs really are just playing boring football. I'm no wowsa but anyone condoning the release of flares where there are young children needs their head read.

And the end to end thing, I think I used to do that when I was about 9......
Hi, My name is Ron 'Bluey' Dunn. Did you know I played in the 61 & 62 Tasman Premiership sides....

Fair comment. As a parent myself these days i find i have no tolerance for the cretin with the flare, where in the past i probably would have shrugged it off or just seen it as a bit unfortunate. Now I realise the cretin occupying public space does so at the expense of a whole range of other people.

If you have a young family and by chance sit next to a fan who sets off a flare do you think you they will say "gee that flare was good, that will make me come again next year" or "that could hurt my family, I dont need to take this risk in trying to enjoy a day at the footy, next year Ill stay home and watch it on TV"

Check out the photo below, I reckon I can see Centurion in the vicinity!!!!!!! ;)

Well the SANFL didn't help the cause by denying spectators access to 6 bays - due to having large Corporate sponsorships covers over them, which meant it was quite squashy around the goal area - and very difficult to find a seat each quarter!.

Perhaps you could try sitting in the same seat for the whole game-most football supporters do?

CUTTERMAN wrote:Well done Bayman, about time someone brought this up. Apparently the problem lies solely with the SANFL, advertising and bays of seating being off limits. Give me a break! It's about time the CDFC and some of it's supporters clean this issue up once and for all before flares start being thrown onto the ground, at other people or at SANFL staff. God forbid if the CDFC play a GF with a full house and their supporters can't move from end to end after each 1/4, what will the majority of the SA footy going public have to be subjected to on behalf of the madding crowd and the minority of flare throwing drunken idiots among the CDFC faithful if they don't get their way. Wake up, grow up and open your eyes, this is not part of our football, never has been, never will be and I'm pretty sure no one wants it to be.
I've already given my congratulations to the CDFC punters on this forum for their great win last sunday, their dominance of the comp, facilities and the football club structure, so it's not "sour grapes", not "sore loser" or any other easy outs for those idiots who choose not to face the issue at hand.

W R O N G!!!!!!!! We have ALWAYS gone end to end but I remember Port supporters doing it too. No-one is going to throw a flare onto the oval. Relax, sit back, put your feet up & have a Bex please, look out the window, it's a beautiful day, enjoy it.

yep, that's me, with the black sleeves, holding up the SLADE banner, just after I lit the flare & threw it over my shoulder into the crowd.

it's illegal but I like them, they add to the carnival-like atmosphere. Maybe they should be allowed, one per quarter in a pre-determined position, so everyone has adequate notice. I am serious now, for a change, sorry, it won't happen again.

Flares went out of fashion in the 70s. The morons that keep bringing them in should just stick to soccer games or practice more chants.
