Just out of interest, of the 12 people that have posted above, what distance were you from the flares when they went off ?

Indeed. No one ever mentioned it before...

Post the GF no one has in a seperate topic.
Answer this smac, don't shirk the question with another glib remark.
Are you happy with supporters lighting up flares at footy games, and do you think that it should be a part of SANFL footy/aussie rules. Do you want this to be a regular occurrance.

If its happening repeatedly then maybe it is part of it already?
How do you stop it then? Bags are already being checked what else do you do?

Surely you can't be serious? I certainly have no desire to see the unruly element of English soccer behaviour infiltrate Aussie Rules crowds. Eject and ban the perpetrators-it's not difficult to identify them. They could be seen quite clearly from most areas of the ground-as could the inaction of security and the police.

It will be too late by the time someone is injured. The time for the SANFL to act is NOW.

How old are you demonseye--13 or 14?

Safely tucked away near the old scoreboard as I know what to expect at a central grand final. I had the glasses on the northern end when the orange one went off and I could clearly see who was responsible but the security and police could not.

Just trying to gauge what level of personal distress was caused......50 to 60 metres was the closest you say ?

As a long time Central supporter, I abhor the use of flares at the footy and am very concerned that an injury will occur. All it takes is for some little kid to accidentally have their clothing set alight and there would be serious repercussions for those involved. Its just plain unnecessary, stupid and the sooner the perpetrators wake up to themselves the better.

On a positive note, congratulations to the Sturt group with the floggers on the boundary - would be great to see all cheersquads have them at all games, but please keep the flares away.

Impose penalties against the side whose fans are at the source of it and it would stop pretty quick.

- Free kicks
- Award goals
- Fine the club

The safety aspect cannot be underestimated.

Big fines if sanfl employees are injured (ie goal umpires etc) under OHS&W legislation and the sanfl has not adequately done anything to prevent it.

What about if spectators are injured. Does your ticket state that the sanfl isn't liable as the possibility of flares cannot be guaranteed? Probably not.

SANFL inaction means that they are effectively condoning it.

May as well just let everyone bring in automatic weapons, knives and other armoury and we can just have a right royal riot and bugger the footy.

.......or are they doing that too already?

Well it's pretty sad if footy has come to this sort of crap because in the end the perpetrators surely aren't real SANFL fans.
