All discussions to do with the SANFL

idiots at the footy, flares, drunks etc

Postby bayman » Tue Oct 06, 2009 7:24 pm

as an impartial person on the day, 'the flare people' do spoil the reputation of the general central supporter, while every team has idiots that support the various teams, flares are dangerous & there should be a warning given BEFORE GAMES & through the whole year, that not only the people with flares but the whole contigent in the area will be escorted from the ground & fined & fined heavily....peer group pressure will be the easiest & quickest way to have it stamped out (no pun intended), another big problem ''alledgedly'' is friday nights where morons who have been drinking during the day rock up at norwood already at least half full, keep drinking & have 'altercations' with just about anyone & that is as dangerous as any other problem we have in society, these & other things have to be STOPPED before someone does get seriously hurt & then the people that win will be lawyers
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Well the SANFL didn't help the cause by denying spectators access to 6 bays - due to having large Corporate sponsorships covers over them, which meant it was quite squashy around the goal area - and very difficult to find a seat each quarter!.

Perhaps you could try sitting in the same seat for the whole game-most football supporters do?

what would happen if the goal umpire said im not standing in that area for safety reasons? the sanfl has a duty of care to all people weather they are spectators or officials.
would the game have to be replayed if umpires said this is too dangerous?

The CDFC cheer squad go end to end, always have, always will. But yeah it was stupid how so many bays were blocked off. It was hard to find seating for my family of 6, plus other family members with so many seats unavailable.

Whilst their numbers grow in finals, a lot of them spend the whole season moving end to end. Are you suggesting they conform to the stale, corporate environment that represents everything the SANFL shold not be?

IIRC, 200 GF had allocated seats and it made no difference.

Well done Bayman, about time someone brought this up. Apparently the problem lies solely with the SANFL, advertising and bays of seating being off limits. Give me a break! It's about time the CDFC and some of it's supporters clean this issue up once and for all before flares start being thrown onto the ground, at other people or at SANFL staff. God forbid if the CDFC play a GF with a full house and their supporters can't move from end to end after each 1/4, what will the majority of the SA footy going public have to be subjected to on behalf of the madding crowd and the minority of flare throwing drunken idiots among the CDFC faithful if they don't get their way. Wake up, grow up and open your eyes, this is not part of our football, never has been, never will be and I'm pretty sure no one wants it to be.
I've already given my congratulations to the CDFC punters on this forum for their great win last sunday, their dominance of the comp, facilities and the football club structure, so it's not "sour grapes", not "sore loser" or any other easy outs for those idiots who choose not to face the issue at hand.

Post the GF no one has in a seperate topic.
Answer this smac, don't shirk the question with another glib remark.
Are you happy with supporters lighting up flares at footy games, and do you think that it should be a part of SANFL footy/aussie rules. Do you want this to be a regular occurrance.

If its happening repeatedly then maybe it is part of it already?
How do you stop it then? Bags are already being checked what else do you do?

I am a little lost how the issue of flares can be related to the SANFL having advertising on a few bays of seating. I can fins a seat so I am going to let of a flare how reticulose. From where I was sitting I could clearly see the people holding the flares in the last quarter at the northern end so I am not sure why security or the police could not find them and throw them out of the ground.
