Lads, just went onto the MyCricket website, and there is a fixture located on that site for Great Southern... whether or not it's correct, is another matter. According to that site, the first round draw (A grade) is:

10 Oct(1:00 PM) Mount Compass Gold v Encounter Bay Mount Compass Oval
10 Oct(1:00 PM) Port Elliot v Goolwa Port Elliot Oval
10 Oct(1:00 PM) McLaren Districts v Mount Compass Maroon McLaren Vale Oval
10 Oct(1:00 PM) Aldinga v Willunga Aldinga Oval

bring your beach hats... I think a few of the grounds have had about 100 tonnes of sand dumped on them!!

Who knows... I'm sure every man and his dog will turn up to training Thursday night, and everyone will expect a hit!!

Maybe a couple of recruits to bolster the middle order (C Grade that is)..

So does anyone know if the two compass teams been given any conditions? Like is one side going to be much better than the other or are they going to be fairly even, also are only certain players able to play in either side, or can players interchange between sides at will? possibly someone from compass or on the executive committee could give us a better indication... Also what do people think of compass having 2 sides? i personally don't think they should have 2 A grade sides, and would have much preferred a bye!!

Absolutely crazy to have Two A Grade Teams from Compass. The most bizzare and thoughtless scheme in any compettition. Whoever thought of this and even worse still, whoever sanctioned it is/are total idiots.
MADNESS UTTER MADNESS
Scenario 1. Compass Gold A Grade has 2 injuries after week 1.Fast Bowler with a Groin and out for three weeks plus their wicket keeper breaks a thumb and out for seven.
Compass Maroon A Grade has a wedding week 2 and 3 players can't play. Opening Batsman, Wicketkeeper and Fast Bowler.
Assume they all come from the B Grade. What sort of side do the B's field.

Guarantee this will not happen next year

Compass have helped out by doing this and should be alowed,6 players are to be named and after xmas they will have to name 8,so this should work, better than a bye in A grade, but i suppose people will jump down my throte about this as well.

Thats why Myponga should have been made to stay in A grade ,even if they have min no. it is all about helping out the comp, and you should start with the highest level, whats that saying ,If u buid it they will come.

Just hope that next year more clubs can fill an A grade side, even if they go as easy beats they will come out better for it,kids these days want to play As no matter what and so they should.

yes i totally agree rocky, every club should have an Agrade side. In some comps throughout the state ie KI there is only one grade, this being A grade, so their choice is play cricket or dont . no easy options available to them!!!!!

Thorpe was very close to playing but has moved to lamaroo and travel was an issue,McCard is tied up with Southern Districts so we wont have these two this year,Deon Wakfield should be ok after maybe before Xmas ,due to his Dad having Cancer he is helping his mum out at the moment, but yes it is a very solid line up,with some new guys in the side ,brings depth with bat and some other options with the ball ,Andy Evans was named Captain last night and with this we also named him as Club Captain so at the moment we are looking ok and are all hopefull to get some finals action this year.

that is the pickup of the year rocky if he can play most of the year. we at the bay have a near full strength line up with modra moller and wood unavailbe this week for various reasons. side is good with numbers superb. 9 players left out of the c grade last night. with about 6 players to come back into a and b grade over the next couple of weeks. for once i dont think numbers will be a problem. the phone bill may not require a personal loan to pay it off this year.

Good to hear that your club has strong numbers there Richard, last time the Ozzies lost the Ashes everyone had strong numbers must get people thinking about cricket over football season,Luke Bailey big in looks very solid with bat, with himself N Kies, Criss Heyward ,M McDonald and Luke Giddings in the side the batting line up looks a hell of alot better than last year.

Just checked out the teams on Mycricket and have seen some names from the past playing again,R Overall for the Bays<never thought he would play for any other team than Port Elliot>and R Kappler for Elliot, only problem with Kappler is that we loose the best umpire the GSCA had but still good to see them playing again, some of the best blokes i have ever played with and will be looking forward to now playing against them.

Good luck this Saturday to all hope there are some big scores made and plenty of 5 wicket halls ,LET THE FUN BEGIN. :D :D :D
