Good on him, massive for the Crows chances of a flag in the next few years.

Maybe the Power could take a few leaves out of the way the Crows run their club.
Tippett stays at the Crows.
Burgoyne leaves the Power.

Speaks volumes on the disparities in terms of the culture at the respective clubs.

I probably should have put the contract length in the earlier post
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.

Craig must remember there are four players in this game, Adelaide,Tippet, the Gold Coast and Tippets Manager...who do you think has the biggest say in all of it? ;)

I think he will stay but I think he will sign for 2 years, see what the Crows can do in that time then "jump ship" when the GC has been in for two years and in up and running.[/quote]

hahahaha again  - slowly backing away from his original statement. go yell at port adelaide players again, it seems it's what you do best!

hahaha, I love it when you Essendon supporters get it wrong.Sorry,Essendon supporter, what was that? Essendon, or the Crows, who is it that you support? hmm, I think he'll stay, and I think it will be for two years? Sounds like exactly what has happened flyboy...

What was I backing down from btw?

At this point in time we are establishing a quality young list, the likes of which the AFL has never seen in your home, the Gold Coast. As a young player with a number of games under his belt and having spent time in what is well regarded as one of the best equiped AFL clubs ( Adelaide Crows ) we are happy to supply you with a blank cheque which we would appreciate you fill out and return to us by 1 Jan 2010. This will enable us to utilise out very, very deep salary cap to best negotiate with other young AFL stars we wish to add to our list.

Your key role in not only the on field but off field goings on as a key member of the leadership group will see you exposed to many potential sponsors which do not fall within the confines of our salary cap.

Your Mum,Dad,family and girlfriend have expressed that you consider this proposal before filling out the cheque that is enclosed.

Rest assured that in your 5 year deal we have the ability to increase not only your earning capacity but the opportunity to establish you as the name, face and star of the newest most exciting AFL franchise.

Also included is a 2 night stay in Penrith and Parramatta.

Yours,

GC17

Yep, he'll stay..... 8)

Dear GC17,
Thankyou for your correspondence and attached blank cheque. I appreciate your intentions in building a strong team and know that this will be fantastic for the development of the game in my home town, and your offer is certainly tempting.

However, the Adelaide Football Club have vested much time and effort into my development since I have been based here, and I feel that they should be the ones to benefit should I amount to anything in the next few years. I have also made many friends amongst the playing group and around the club, and feel that together we have a real potential to challenge for an AFL premiership very soon.

It is due to these reasons that I have decided to decline your generous offer and chosen instead to sign with Adelaide for 3 more years. I thankyou for the assistance your offer gave in inflating negotiations with my current club, and I wish you all the best as you assemble your inaugural squad.

Regards,
K Tippett

PS - You can leave my Mum, Dad, family & girlfriend alone now please.

As published on afc.com.au:

"Adelaide’s Kurt Tippett has signed a new deal with the Crows, committing until the end of 2012."

Two more years on top of his current contract, which takes him to the end of the 2012 season = 3 years.

Resorting to technicalities now Booney? ;)

My final post in here so I dont upset anyone.

He was contracted for 2010, he is now there until the end of 2012, therefore he just signed a two year deal.

Just wanted to publicly declare my relief and joy that Kurt has signed on. To finally have the key forward that we have been lacking for a decade and then to lose him would have almost been too much and i may have had to switch my allegiances to the GC as they will dominate the next decade from 2012 onwards
