Both brilliant, but it's gotta be Centrals...

The question is will any other team step up and stamp their mark on the next decade?

Too true CC - let's hope either the Eagles or Sturt can take the next step and take the ascendancy away from the Dogs.

not quite right imho boys because the crows were already in so that 'true competition' quip isn't quite right but i understand what you are saying........but no one should cheapen premiership teams regardless of when they happened because the players have earned theirs in the years they have won, 2009 is no worse or better than 1999, 1989 or 1969, 1909 1889 etc

Centrals is better, you can only go on Stats and 8 is better than 7

Easier to win in the Nineties with no salary cap- Port basically recruited who they wanted to. Comp may be weaker nowadays but still an even playing field.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

i dont know if the Comp is weaker now, Australias Population is bigger, therefore there are more Footballers, clubs spend more money on training facilities now, players are much fitter and stronger. the Skills are improving all the time. i would like to see Centrals of 09 play Port of 99. it would be alot closer than all you port supporters think

i don't think it is weaker i reckon from about 1998-2003 may've been slightly down in standard but atm i think it is very good, i actually spoke to a former glenelg captain a few weeks ago & he said to me i don't reckon i could handle the time, committment & the workload these blokes go through

If we were to go by stats there is another arguement for Port as their 7/8 is an 87.5% winning ratio where as Central 8/10 is only 80% winning ratio.

Centrals 2009 would thrash them - the players from Port 1999 are now all 10 years older and most haven't trained or played in years. :D

Interesting Port had a lot more competition back then the old SANFL aint as strong as it used to be.Plus CDFC have a lot of $$$ due to their location as a few have said its a bit like a pokie flags wonder how Nick X feels maybe hes a Central supporter.

PAFC zone is near Woodville where as the the Pokie club is out on its own and with the pending good news for GMH more pokie money on its way so looks loike the rich will get stronger and the rest of us just have to battle away, good luck to them though years down the bottom and now flag after flag

yeah but we're all playing each other in the same comp, so it's still an even playing field.

We would be 10 goals up at half time but then Port would revert to their famous thug-like tactics to try to beat Us, We would still prevail by 6 goals, with 16 on the oval & the rest in hospital.
