umpires bow out

Postby bayman » Sun Oct 04, 2009 9:34 pm

both richard williams & tim pffeifer have announced their retirements from sanfl footy/umpiring, richard despite EVERY TEAMS SUPPORTERS saying stuff like ''he hates us'', ''he always destroys us'' etc etc was one of the better umpires going around, & tim was not as MALigned but was also a very good umpire....well done boys & i'd say on behalf of everybody while we were always negative towards you it was never personal & we do wish you well in the future....we also hope the up & comers will do as good as job as you two guys who are ornaments of the game & you can now join us on the other side of the fence & ''abuse the umpires''   ;)

It's nice to know that Richard Williams (best umpire in the SANFL) is being replaced by up and coming talent such as Curtis Deboy.

Yes, I too have serious concerns about umpiring in this State.

OMG We are rooted!!!

Dear Richard, we will miss you...
Thanks Pffeifer, for another shite performance in the second half today...must feel nice to go out "on top"...and it's not the ones you called, it's the ones you didn't...

Need I say anymore about Richard Williams.

I actually thought Pfeiffer was still one of the better SANFL umpires still going around.

Nonetheless all the best to both.

With Pfeiffer, Williams and Woodcock all retiring, that leave a decent dent in terms of experienced umpires.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

I wonder what impact all the abuse the umpires get has on them.

Once people learn the names of the senior ones they get blamed for everything!

One day I walked around the ground at half time and heard some supporters of both sides accusing Richard Williams of cheating their team! Quite an achievement.

I would like to thank Tim Pfeiffer and Richard Williams for their contributions and wish them a full recovery.

I always found it funny how people blamed them for decisions at games they never even umpired at. (especially Richard)

Well he's definitely back but you must wonder whether he was asked to come back?
Are umpire numbers a problem at minute even at SANFL level?

Not sure if numbers are a problem but what i saw today their performances are and my side won, horrific for both sides, put the bloody whistles away and let the sides play some decent play on footy
