You're kidding me aren't you woodwt. You are a twit - you call yourself a supporter. First half was excellent - Second half was deplorable. Bad kicking is bad footy and I believe we kicked something like 2.10 in the second half. Kick a little straighter and we win the game it's as simple as that. We only lost by 2 goals - it's not the end of the world.

well done to our magoos, with the 18s smashing port i have been thinking what might have been the greatest day in our clubs history. Goodbye for the time being micky goddden - champion bloke and champion coach, your efforts at the gfc 2 flags plus a 1pt prelim loss in the last 3 years speaks for itself

the two's boys showed tremendous resolve to claw their way back into it after wwt dominated the first half & again it was a team with poor kicking at goal that ended up losing (we know how you feel ;) ) young snook (both of them really the other played in the u/18s) are going to be very good to great players in the future, but it was a complete team effort with the old G&D

WELL DONE BOYS & HAVING JUST GOT HOME FROM THE CLUB I KNOW YOU ARE ENJOYING IT

not quite as simple as that, there were 13 rushed behinds in todays game (6 for one and 7 for the other) and the majority of those 2.10 were ruched in the second half.

eagles big men were dominant in the first half both through the middle and up forward.

the pivotal move of the game was mcconnell going into the middle in the 2nd half and having 15 possessions in the 3rd quarter

Do you really think the ones choked do you?? In what way? If you are referring to their goal kicking... then I think you'll find we "choked " for a vast majority of the season. The players missed set/simple shots all year. Winning unfortunately helped gloss over our sins. We made the same mistakes in our 2 finals as we did all season. We scraped home due to terrible kicking v South, West, North, Port, Sturt, draw v Dogs but because we "Won" I think it masked a problem that was clearly evident.

Congratulations to the U/18's and reserve lads. A sensational effort by both. A lot of the reserves side have come through together from the U/19 GF win in 2008. Its all about culture and both the 18's and reserves today set about building a culture at the GFC that WILL permeate right through the club.

Excellent post. The 18s demonstrated they could cope with the pressure of dealing with expectations when clearly they were the best side all year, so winning was expected. Teh ressies demonstrated a never say die attitude, belief in the game plan and preparedness to risk a losing by going for a win - something we saw in the late game two weeks ago....

Two excellent wins that go some way but not completely to erasing the hurt of the previous two weeks with the 1s.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

had they got blown out of the water twice yes you can say that but when you lose by less than a kick, you can't say that as the word 'chocking' essentially means 'stage fright' & there wasn't stage fright it was poor execution of skill in front of goal & as milbo pointed out it has happened all year....i recall 2.9 at 1/4 time versus wwt & wasn't it 8.21 against port ? to just point out a couple

Well done to our new coach and his now old side.

Bays were on top early (first 10 mins) but once the Eagles boys found their feet they seemed to be in control for the rest of the half.
After half time who knows what happened but confidence is a funny thing and that man McConnell (amongst others) who always seems to play well against us came good again, he seemed to be everywhere and suddenly the seed of doubt was planted and the game was back on, and for the rest of the game the bays kept asking the question and the Eags couldnt get that answering goal which may have been able to stem the flow, and it just seemed like if the bays hit the front it would be game over, Westbrook's goal gave us a bit of hope but that was short lived...and im sure Tom Couch enjoyed that last goal to totally ice the game.

Thought the umpiring for the most part wasn't too bad today from 2 of the 3, the other seemed out of his depth.....again. Disappointing that after half time alot of frees were paid that seemed like they weren't before the break, Glenelg must have got at least 5 goals as a result of frees and 25M penalties, guess if you get to the ball first you increase your chances of the 50/50 free....................not that im bitter or anything...... ;) Bring on 2010!
Trust the process.

Thanks for the write up columbo for those of us who missed the game .I wonder if Mr McConnell is contracted for next year at the bay or will he be on the market. As he always seems to beat us Eagles!!!
