PAMFC finished where this year?

Any club that finishes Minor Premier & bows out in straight sets should be seething at a complete waste of a year- whether your an AFL club, or the Poochera Thirds...

Have read (with much delight) the excuses trotted out by Glenelg supporters, & about being "proud of the boys" etc... but the few Glenelg supporters who are ropeable are on the right track- there are no excuses for what happened to them this year.

Any club that gets out in front (both finals) & has more scoring shots (both finals), yet still finds a way to lose is a failure- a dismal one at that.

So true Punky. If Westies fans said "proud of the boys" they should be, they improved vastly this year and look to be heading in the right direction for the first time in many years.

Perhaps the fact that Bays fans have grown accustom to such finals failures they feel proud that the boys are upholding the long held traditions of the club?

The disappointment is immense, especially when the loses are 2 and 5 points points respectively.

I've already noticed some gloating from others about the results which I will not dignifiy with a response other than anonymous cheap shots are easy to make so go ahead and have your fun if that makes you feel good.

Fisrt of all, well done to Sturt today, thoroughly deserved the win. They withstood the first quarter onslaught and played the better football for the rest of the match.

The Bays lacked composure when it mattered but they did not give up and fought to the end. That lack of polish cost them both finals.

There are no excuses ... the Bays had control of their destiny and weren't good enough, but not by much.

I am proud of my club and their efforts, but obviously gutted by the result.

I and the Glenelg Football Club hold our heads high. This year is not to be.

Congratulations to Central and Sturt for deserving their places in the 2009 GF. It will be a cracking game and best of luck to both teams.

Punk

Your concern for the Glenelg Footy club and its supporters is laudable, I didn't know you cared so much to elucidate it on this august forum.

With respect to your concern about us being on the right track following our straight sets exit, having sat in front of the President for the last half of the game on Sunday I can assure you that no exuses will be allowed for this year and the pertinant points raised in your last statement (and others not covered by your astute caring self) will be fully addressed.

Once again I find your concern for us touching and humbling.

cheers

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Will 2010 be regarded as a wasted season if the Bays dont participate in the Grand Final?

As hard as it must be to see the side just missing out over the last two years, they are very much amongst it and I think its probably fairly safe to say that their supporters get to drive to the matches that they are playing with confidence that their side will win the match. It has been perhaps 1991 where SAFC supporters had the same experience and I suggest that Glenelg will be experiencing it for a few more seasons just yet!

Sad part is that we will probably have 13 Flags before you get number 12

But you wont ever get to number 12 as long as you keep the same Board and footy department

Not enough praise for the Blues in this thread. Tigers very stiff after losing two close finals. I just wish the Redlegs could win enough games to regularly challenge instead of winning by a kick against the Dogs when it doesn't really matter.

That's because this isn't a "well done Blues" thread. Or Centrals. It's an "oh sh!t" thread.

I've got first hand experience of supporting a club that finishes top of the table and then gets done repeatedly...I'm a Power supporter (I know, I know...).

The thing I'm really not looking forward to about next year is coming out and winning lots of games during the season. Stupid sort of a thing to say, sure, as it's better than losing a lot. But watching top performances during a season when you know the pattern of the last couple is just being repeated means the footy, at least to me, is harder to enjoy in that losses hurt and wins, while not meaningless, have some of their joy removed because in the back of the mind is the finals bunyip rubbing its big scaly green hands together.

So come on next finals time, I hope to hell we're there. And I hope even more that if we make it, we KICK MORE GOALS THAN POINTS!!

Yes Sturt fought it out well, but had the Tigers nailed gimmee goals, the discussion this week would be can the Bays overcome Centrals, which is the whole point of my argument- Glenelg lost the game more than Sturt won it.
