Sampdoria have returned to the top of the Serie A table after shocking Inter Milan while Fiorentina overcame Livorno.
Champions Inter Milan suffered their first defeat of the new season after slipping to a 1-0 loss at Sampdoria.
Chances were few and far between with Giampaolo Pazzini's 72nd minute effort deciding a tight, yet entertaining encounter.
Esteban Cambiasso had the first chance of the game while Reto Ziegler tested Julio Cesar from distance before half-time.
Inter looked bright after the interval and Diego Milito came close to breaking the deadlock after Luca Castellazzi saved Mario Balotelli's deflected effort.
The Nerazzurri laid siege to the Samp goal in search of an equaliser in the final 10 minutes, but the closest they came was Lucio's disallowed goal for offside.
Fiorentina have moved level on points with champions Inter after securing a 1-0 win at lowly Livorno.
The game was decided in the 76th minute when Fiorentina were awarded a penalty for Marcus Diniz's foul on Alberto Gilardino.
Stevan Jovetic successfully converted from the penalty spot, although the visitors had to play out the final moments a man light after Dario Dainelli picked up his second yellow card.
Juventus thought they had done enough to secure a fifth victory in six outings, but conceded late on against Bologna and had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
David Trezeguet broke the deadlock at Stadio Olimpico after 24 minutes and Adailton levelled matters in the dying seconds.
Lazio have now gone four games without a win after they could only muster a 1-1 draw against Palermo.
Edinson Cavani had the visitors in front after 75 minutes, but Mauro Zarate restored parity five minutes from time.
Roma were also involved in a 1-1 stalemate on Sunday, away at Catania.
Takayuki Morimoto opened the scoring after 21 minutes, only to see Daniele de Rossi rescue the capital outfit deep into stoppage time.
There was, however, still time for Gennaro Delvecchio to see red for deliberate handball.
Napoli secured a welcome win over Siena, prevailing 2-1.
Marek Hamsik (48 & 63) bagged a brace either side of a Massimo Maccarone (55) equaliser.
Cagliari ensured they claimed back-to-back victories as they enjoyed a 2-0 success on the road at Parma.
Jeda took just seven minutes to break the deadlock and Daniele Pessena wrapped things up after 58 minutes.
Udinese caused more misery for Genoa as they left it late before securing a 2-0 win.
Antonio Di Natale fired the hosts in front after 81 minutes and Pepe added a second two minutes from the end.
Elsewhere, Chievo were held 1-1 at home by Atalanta.
Sergio Pellissier (77) ensured the points would be shared when he cancelled out Simeon Tiribocchi's 72nd minute opener.
Finally, the evening match saw AC Milan's stuttering start to the new season continue as they played out a goalless draw with Bari at San Siro.
