A couple of very ordinary umpiring decisions by the lunatics in charge...................again.
Is there any chance they can be told that they are not the game but just a small part of it?

Settle REB. Take your win graciously!

Anyway, what I was going to say is that the umpiring was pretty ordinary today. Normally I don't notice the umpires on grand final day but today they were terrible.

Few decisions - the "demonstrative behaviour" free against Milburn at half time. Where is "demonstrative behaviour" in the rules book?

Last quarter, Schneider breaks free of a falling opponent and is grabbed, his shorts or guernsey is stretched right in front of the umpires. No free.

That's just two instances I can document - but if I noted the rest there would've been 15 that would normally get paid during the regular season that weren't today.

Ultimately I don't care if they are not paid in the GF, but let them go in rounds 1-22 as well .... please!

Hey REB don't forget to send the thank you card to the PAFC for picking Boak over Selwood...

Just watching the replay now on FOX 2, how good was Selwood in the first half, mind you up to half time BOG for Geelong is S Milne.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The commentators were speculating that Geelong's game plan could come unstuck in a grand final yet I felt it was St Kilda's "dome" game plan that came unstuck on a wet day. How many times did they bang it down to Riewoldt only for it to be spoiled in a big pack? On a dry deck under cover Riewoldt takes 10 more marks and kicks 4 more goals but they needed to come up with another trick today and didn't. They had enough of the ball and enough inside 50s to win that by 5 goals in the right conditions.

Well done Geelong - 2 flags feels about right given the quality of the side.

SK will no doubt be called a club that falters when the going gets tough[ again]
GE will have enourmous pressure on them as well, another g/f loss and 1 flag from 3 years of Minor round domininance will be an underchievement

Who should the nuetral public support?
GE who play footy as it should be played
OR
SK who play ugly and make spectating a chore a times
Without doubt a GE win is a win for the game in general
A SK win will only encourage more clubs to play Soccer/Rugby err I mean Football

The winner
SK 2 points for thier 2nd flag
SK should dedicate this game to 3 people
Robert Harvey who will have mixed feelings, he would want a flag, but will have fixed emotions not being there
Trevor Barker for obvious reasons
Saintal who has the courage to admit he barracks for St Kilda and South Adelaide.

NostraMALdamus predicts on a dry day

SK 2-5.....5-8.....9-11....11-13
GE 1-2.....3-6.......7-8....11-11

Best on ground Sam Fisher who will again be opponentless most of the day

Loaderbollocks! Cats for the flag.

Oh the pain the pain of it all
There were 2 dreadful decisions, I just couldnt believe my eyes
MILBURN arguing his POINT to the umps, this happens often in AFL footy and today of all days Milburn gets a poor decision that costs GE a goal
Pathetic overzealous umpiring

SCHNIEDER late in the game was raped had his shorts tugged for an eternity
How could that not be holding the man ?

That 60s song keeps playing in my mind tonight
Might as well REIGN until September ....

GE deserved this win, outplayed for a most of the game, but managed to hang in there at 3/4 time
Then it was that last qtr. oh the pain the pain of it all ,goaless
FAINT KILDA ....

Super game of footy. Well fitting of a Grand Final.

Saints will rue some errors at crucial times. The one that got me was with 6 minutes or so left, Riewoldt comes flying in and spoils his own teammate who was about to take a chest mark on the MCC wing. Turned the ball over immediately.

Scarletts little flick kick to Ablett to set up the winner was legendary. Bartel and Taylor both outstanding. Chappy made every disposal count...3 goals and a similar number of goal assists as well.

Saints fans will be shattered. Will be hard to accept.

As much as I didnt want them to win, that Geelong era will now go down as one of the best 4-5 teams in VFL-AFL history.

Im not convinced they are as good as the brisbane lineup in 2001-2004 but if they have another good year next season, who knows.

Congratulations Geelong, the Saints were also very brave.

Out of all of this, I tip my hat to Ross Lyon who conducted himself magnificently before and after the game (especially the press conference after). I must admit I don't have a lot of time for some of the Sainters, but gee they earnt some respect.

Geelong deserved the win and 2 out of the last 3 is a just reward.

LOL, almost the bet part of all this was the continual referal to Geelong players in interviews after the game about how much sweeter this win was as opposed to the Port massacre 2 years ago, but with the ultimate put down .... no disrespect to Port!

Yes, we are Geelong, and for the moment, they are the greatest team of all.
