They are a breeding ground alright, breeding scum is questionable though.... You call stiffy johncock, Burgoyne bros, eddie betts, byron pickett and D Wells scum?? These guys help put the PLFL on the map, and help pave the way for many more players from the PLFL to join the AFL ranks..

How about being positive on stuff out of the MPFC instead bagging them all the time..
Just a thought ...

Bubz I dont need you to tell me how many flags they've won and how many brilliant players have come out of the place, Im actually from here and have played in the PLFL for many years - unlike you Im guessing? Your just another one that hears all the la di da bullsh*t from a distance about what an amazing club they are etc due to the fact that so many players have gone on to great players in the AFL.

Football clubs have much more responsibility than nurturing players for a career on the big stage. They have a responsibility to the local community and football league to develop people not just in a football sense but in a social sense as well. Year after year they are not represented in underage grades (this year was U13's I think), no one can tell me there isnt enough kids in their football community to find numbers for these grades..again they are failing their obligations. Its probably all a bit too hard. Also their players wouldnt be able to play if it wasnt for all the people from other clubs and the league giving their time to umpire etc - roles which the MPFC rarely fulfill.

My post if you bother to read it correctly, was also about the issues that happen here on a regular basis which affect the LOCAL football and wider community. Having umpires get pelted with bottles, players from other clubs getting assaulted, and a basic disrespect given to all local football facilities, to name a few, are the things that go on. The people that carry out these acts are representing the MPFC and they need to take responsibility. The buck stops with their club as they are failing their responsibility to encourage their representatives to act responsibly.

So heres a thought for you mate - get all the facts before you post on here with your do-gooder comments. You clearly hear only one side of the story which is the same old stuff in the media each football season about what an amazing club the MPFC is and all the great players from there. A prime example of this was the ABC coverage of the GF last year, they came over here to broadcast to the state another premiership for the unstoppable MPFC and further proclaim their greatness. Well what Roger Wills and the state audience got was the true picture of what their club is about - a team who capitulated under pressure because their predictable tactic of attacking the man with cheap shots failed - players verbally abusing each other and the umpires on the field when the game was lost - and last but not least the woeful conduct of their supporters after the game towards officials and opposition supporters. I doubt that the ABC will be coming back to broadcast their games anytime soon after getting a taste of what really goes on.

Its a sad state of affairs and I wish it was different - if they could only let their football do the talking as its sublime to watch when on song.

I say these comments as Im concerned for the state of the great game here in PT Lincoln. Sorry for the long post but thats the way it is.
Over and out for good.

Bish I'm not taking sides, like I said just a thought.

You say your from the town, that doesn't mean your from the MPFC or associated with it not that you'd want to be by the sounds of things, ha ha.

But how do you know what goes on inside the club? Your just another person looking from the outside in to aren't you??
Maybe there are some trouble makers in and around the club, but which club doesn't have a few bad eggs in its basket.

Do you honestly think the PLFL would be alot better off without the MPFC in the comp? Remember this doesn't just effect the local comp, but it effects Mortlock, EP, SANFL all the way up to AFL.

BUT......Then again, maybe banishing MPFC from the PLFL would be a good thing. Then all the players can go play for the remaining 5 clubs, (would you open your doors for them). Than atleast that way all teams can have trouble makers...

If they went to other clubs, they wouldn't get away with they are getting away with now.

Thats how it used to be Bubz b4 MPFC and i believe it worked well. It would have to be better as there wouldnt be the 'us v's them' set up. And your right I dont know what goes on inside the club.

But on the whole a 5 team comp wouldnt be better in terms of the leagues integrity but things have got to change.

I guess having their own club is another way of having their own identity in the town.
But the bad behavior has to stop, and like you said it stops with the club. Maybe the club needs some education on how to manage its players/supporters etc.

Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure there have been non-indigenous people play for the MPFC. So I wouldn't think there would be much of a us vs them attitude. But correct me if you know otherwise.

All in all there are pro's and con's for whatever happens for their club. Maybe when those current MPFC AFL listed players return home, they can bring some of their knowledge and expertise to the club...

I saw Graham drinking in his Landcruiser ute at the footy in a dry zone on prelim day and Byron doing the same at the grand final on saturday. I should know I was there drinking in the car behind them

I'm not going to hit the "quote" button on bish or bubbz's comments, because we'd be here forever...

I have had a unique position this year. Previously (when I was involved at PLFL club level) I had heard the club perspective on Mallee Park, and had actually had to umpire and timekeep FOR the MPFC, since they had no-one to fill the role... This was, and still is, a week in week out problem.

This year, I have been involved with the PLFL in an official capacity, and I have seen the MPFC situation in a very different light...
There is only organisation in their "well-off" grades. That is to say, a strong A grade means that they will have a coach, runner, team manager, and timekeeper each week. They will do everything properly off the field.
When they have a struggling side there is nothing. Bish was right with their under 13's... They had NO organisation, no support, and forfeited the last full round of the year. That was after League enforced forfeits for their various indiscretions to that point of the season.

There is no discipline at the club. Under 13 (in their few matches) had a kid suspended for two matches (UNDER 13!!!) for striking, under 15 three players, one for FIVE weeks, and one who will make appearance number two this week.
On that point- Bubbz... you talk about no MPFC affecting Mortlock and other things... The kid having his second appearance got suspended in the Magpie Cup (MORTLOCK WEEKEND). And then on the weekend in the under 15's GF- he also got done as AN UNDER 11, for STRIKING AN UMPIRE!!!!!!!!!

I'm not trying to put forward the opinion that every MPFC person is a bad egg, because that is definetly not the case, but I am saying that the on-field problems are starting at a young age, and nothing is done to stop them.
The off-field problems are simply that there is too few trying to do too much.
Guys like Joe Burgoyne, Scott Kropinyeri, Harry Miller Jnr, and Dean Miller are busting their a$$es, but there isn't enough support. And no club can function with four blokes trying to do it all.
Without more dedicated helpers, Mallee Park cannot stay as a viable option- no matter how many AFL players they produce.

And yes, I just wanted to join in the long posting... ;)

OC- an interesting assumption, but in this instance, incorrect.

I am not in the business of naming and shaming kids, so ask me in four years time.

MR had their presentation night on Friday and a deserved winner of the A grade B&F was Damien Scott who from memory got 47 votes and was well ahead of runner-up Carl Semmler on 25 I think.
Quite bizarre that Scotty did not get 1 single vote in the assoc. count. :o  :?

Quite simply because Scotty is a tough in and under player who wears his socks down, unlike the outside fairies that look brilliant with no one around them that often win these awards

What???????????????? I thought you said Semmler was the best in Lincoln.
I rate him as a player though.

In other news, Blacker won BFC B&F as well as best team man. Marsh recieved the r/u B&F then alerted the crowd of his decision to return to Adelaide. Most people reasonably unhappy going by the responses on the night.

I'm eating my words from a previous post, but happy to do so. Carl Semmler looks almost a certainty to join the TFC for 2010 as playing coach, Other inclusions to our playing group include Johann Wagner(returning), Brad Cimarosti(returning), possibly Ben Lamont and wait for it.....the big one, If Carl signs it is believed that Andrew Jericho will come over from Souths as they are good mates, And if that happens, will we get Castley too? Good Signs ahead for the roosters and maybe 2010 will be YEAR OF THE ROOSTER

good luck to Carl there is not much we can do to match that offer.
Carl was the best but after the finals series the best is D Scott.
