That is bloody ridiculous. How can 1 club have 2 a grade teams. It is just wrong in my opinion.

yes by all reports there would be a strong side and a weaker side. mt compass have to be congratulated for having the guts to put in two A grade sides one it means there will be no byes , whilst also giving more people the chance to play A grade cricket. some of the other clubs could learn by their example! 8) (myponga, yankalilla, rapid bay, victor harbor)

this is the correct way to look at the situation! i would call it 'taking one for the team'

No NO NO this is not happening, only got brought up to not have a bye,If you all would think ,Why let Myponga play B grade ,every year they do it, play As then pull out as they will be easy beats, think about Rapids always in As to help out, they deserve to play B grade and i wish them well,Mypona ANGAIN play in finals and pull out, very interesting to see Mt Compass agree with this as they are getting Thommo one of the best cricketers going around, but if he really wanted Myponga to go well he would stay there and help out the youth and build a team up.

ROCKY why would someone as good as tomo play b grade. its a waste of a year for him. he could make 800 runs and take 40 wickets but he wants play the best level he can and myponga cant give him that. i take my hat off to him for leaving and going to compass. if the club had more like him they would have an a grade. dont knock a bloke for not letting his cricket suffer

I don't think Rock was saying play B Grade.. maybe stick it out in the A's.. like the Rapid Bay's, the Aldinga's.. haven't had much success, but they have a go. If you've got some young guys around, they improve far quicker by playing in the top grade than by playing in the lower grades..

The problem is Myponga don't seem to have much young talent.. I can't name one player form last years Pongy's finals side with anyone under 26-27...

has been quiet on here for nearly a week. has rocky realised that he dribbles rubbish and put in place a self imposed ban?

question, if you could get any player from another club to your club in the GSCA, who would it be??

Your a tool Rocky B. With the crap you post on here no wonder the league is going backwards with you voting on where the league is headed.

Firstly Tomo would not be allowed to play B grade.

Secondly they have tried to get junior cricket off the ground but dont have the numbers.

Also have you forgotten that a few years ago, your club didnt have the numbers & merged. Its not that people dont want to play its that we cant due to a range of reasons, work, moved, shit at cricket, injured etc. I can tell you the Myponga always valued & celebrated an A grade flag harder than an A2 or B's flag. Dont forget Rocky that Myponga has always put in an A grade when it could, unlike your club which was happy to sit in B grade & let Luke Giddings peel off tons. Even when you merged i think you just put in a B grade.

Most clubs see there B Grade as a chance to give the young kids a game against the blokes, and as the "reserves" team for the A Grade.., NOT to churn out premiership after premiership...

A club is only as strong as their A Grade!

When do Pongy sit back in B grade & churn out Premierships? They won A2 the other year because of one player but apart from that when?? I bet they've won more A grade flags than B grade flags in the last 20 years.
One of the most embarrassing things i had to do a few years ago at Pongy was to forefit an A grade game in the 2nd week because only 4 players turned up. Paul Roberts had made a ton the week before, then i was accused by there captain who rang me later that day & said we just couldnt be bothered playing & we planned it. If Tomo & Pongy put in an A grade this year the same could have happened...

Words of Wisdom

I know what the feeling is like having been in sides like that before and not always coming from Winning sides and struggling to get numbers every week. I think the only thing ROcky is having a go at Pongy about is because they made the GF last year and drop out this year, to some it seems like the easy options, but if a club is struggling like pongy is then you cant make 11 guys rock up every week..

Clearly words of wisdom is a Pongy lad. I think everyone is frustrated because of the talent at Pongy. Each time you play against them it's always a good game, and clearly by them making the finals consistently proves that talent. So when they pull out because of a lack of numbers, people get p***d off because then againt the A grade changes..

Words, was a possible amalgamation considered with Yank to field an A Grade this year at all? I know it's happened before, or did both teams flat out reject that?? Did the association put that to the clubs at all as an option?

Do we know if Pongy and Yank both have B grade teams this year?

id love to have another gun bat at Willunga... either a thomo or cammy lintern would do the job! Also sean conner would be real handy with both bat and gloves!

Never did i say that Tommo should play B grade, that is a joke if he did,all i was saying that how is Myponga going to help these young kids along by haveing there clubs best player leaving as he did not want to play in a team that gets belted week in week out ,Myponga if was made to play A grade would struggle but all clubs go through this at some stage ,as for us merging with port elliot was a way for both clubs to play A grade sides ,so i dont think that is a bad thing if anything we would not have an A grade side now if we didnt do it then,If your club has no A grade side then that is the start of the end for any club.

Definately a Cam Lintern! Would love to slot him in at 4 in the Willy line up. Would make a hell of a difference!

And if I could recruit anyone from the GSCA as a club character to help me get through those long days in the field, it would be Rob Lishmond by a mile! The man has my undivided attention everytime I chat to him! He's a master story teller!
